“Great service & excellent food”
Reviewed January 2, 2014 via mobile

Given the specials they advertise I wasn't sure what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. We did not order the special & I even asked for a special request--gnocchi with vodka sauce instead of the menu's red pepper marinara. Excellent!! We will definitely be back. Live music (instrumental guitar) when we were there on a Thursday evening.

“New restaurant”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

Visited Cafe Lunas new location in East Naples last night. Thisi is not a review of their downtown location. Overall, a pretty good experience. Clean, modern decor. Lots of TVs and very sports oriented in the bar.
A bit difficult to find a quiet spot in the dining room as there was live entertainment in there.
Veal Marsala was very good along with their signature "Rustica" salad. Pepperoni pizza was good, also. Crust a little thick for our tastes, but that is a personal preference. Good pasta fagioli for a starter.
Higher than average drink prices and will skip a cocktail when we go back.

“Good Food and No Downtown Stress”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

We had New Year's Eve dinner at this new branch in East Naples last night. I would describe it as a very good local eatery. Nothing too special, but a cut above the other non-downtown local places. In fact, one of the most attractive parts of the experience is that it isn't in the 5th Ave South district with its parking and crowding issues.

As for the food, The bacon wrapped scallops were tasty even if the bacon was not quite crispy enough. Salads were fresh if not noteworthy. The Steak Diane was very appealing and well prepared and having asparagus as the side veggie is a really nice touch. Shrimp Fra Diavalo were nice and spicy.

The service was attentive and smooth and the atmosphere tastefully casual. Overall, it's a good place that avoids the stress and pretension of downtown eateries. Try it, you'll like it.

“Add it to the list”
Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

Have been to the Tamiami Trail location twice in Dec'13. First time in response to their direct mail piece to try the "2 for $29.99" special, and with family including a 3+ year-old for an early dinner. Have found both experiences to be positive:
- The twofer offer, if you actually ask the server about it, is accurately described as a smaller portion of 10-12 entrees, including a bottle of mediocre red or white wine. Our eggplant parmigiana and penne bolognese were both well prepared and presented. Servings were more than adequately-sized, taste was very good, and service was excellent. We'd do it again.
- The family outing was equally fine. Chicken w/ broccoli over penne, chicken Marsala, lobster ravioli and chicken w/pesto over pasta were all tasty, but the chicken Marsala was voted the tastiest. Tender white meat, nicely done Marsala sauce. The child's meal was a 10" pizza, handmade and just right.
- Bar service here is pricey; mojitos and margaritas were $12 each, and medium glasses of merlot were $8.50. More costly than necessary; we'd avoid drinks in the future to cut costs.
- Dessert was equally pricey - $7+ for a 2" slice of key lime pie.

Go to Cafe Luna for the entrees; avoid the fringe stuff; midweek for the twofer is a good deal.

"Thank you for visiting the new Café Luna East location. We are so glad you enjoyed your meals on both occasions and will certainly pass on your compliments to the chef. Honest feedback like your own helps us to improve our restaurants and we hope to welcome you back again soon. You might also want to try our Happy Hour specials from 3-6pm daily (and again from 9pm-midnight at East Naples location) with 50% off all beers, wines (by glass), and all cocktails (including top shelf).

All the best for you and your family as we start into 2014!

“New Years Eve at Cafe Luna East”
Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

We had dinner here last Friday and the food was good. Tonight the Caesar salads came with the dressing on the side in a little plastic container and wasn't half as tasty as before. My tricolor tortellini was so do the I bit into a rotten one so I sent it back and exchanged it for Fettachini Alfredo was the consistency of soup or water. The waiter was then given a table of thirteen. Never again...

Thank you for taking the time to send us feedback regarding your New Year’s Eve experience at our new restaurant. We are really sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations, especially since you know we can and have done better during previous visits.

We experienced particularly stressful situations in our kitchens during the holidays but we do hope that you will give us another chance in the future to exceed your expectations.

Have a wonderful start into 2014!
