We arrived at Del & Mel's on Friday at 2:15pm, too late for the lunchtime specials, so my wife ordered the Jerk Chicken Meal and I had the Jerk Pork Meal. We also had Mango & Pineapple smoothies, which were superb - delicately flavoured with the fruits each distinguishable, as were the coconut milk, vanilla and sorrel. The Jerk meals each came with rice & peas, soaked in the meat sauce, plus cabbage and fried plantain and both were delicious. As we were the only diners present Del (owner, cook, chief bottle-washer etc.) kindly took the time to explain how the food was bought (all organic) and cooked and it was clear she applied the same care and attention to her restaurant food as she would to serving up Sunday lunch to her family. She explained the food was less spicy than it would be in Jamaica because many americans didn't like it hot, so she offered spicy and non-spicy. We had opted for the latter, so we had been provided with a side-dish of hot sauce, which was truly spicy - it blew the roof of my mouth off! We also ordered a Key Lime Pie to go and when we had this later that evening it was the best we had tasted, with a much stronger taste of lime than most. The whole meal for two with tips came to $52, which was more than most diners, but considerably cheaper than any 'fine dining' restaurants offering the same quality of food without the same individual care and attention. A great experience. We'll surely be going back.

We wanted Caribbean after the usual, somewhat monotonous seafood/American fare on the strip and found this family owned Jamaican restaurant on Trip Advisor. Thoroughly enjoyed the personal nature of our dining experience. The food was delicious and conversation fun. Everything home cooked with food from farmers market. Try meat patties! Really wanted to check this out, so many good reviews. Well we came , we ate , we left. Slow service seemed to overwhelm the waiter, cook whoever. Just a few people in but he seemed to be in the back reheating the food and serving upfront. the mother came in after the food was served.
Very dry, dry jerk chicken, plain black pea rice and cabbage. No water available except to purchase. Had to ask for utensils, napkins etc. Pricey for the quantity and quality.
Quaint inside.

My husband sampled Pauline's Jamaican cuisine at the Marco Island Farmer's Market. He thought it was delicious and wanted us to try the Del & Mel Jamaican restaurant. It's located in the shopping plaza on the SE corner of US 41 and Rattlesnake Hammock rd., Naples. We found the restaurant to be small, tastefully decorated, with Pauline, owner and cook, to be conversing with another patron at the counter. We joined them at the counter and Pauline explained the menu options and helped us make a dinner selection. We shared jerked rabbit, black beans and rice, a plantain, and steamed cabbage. We each ordered a smoothie made with organic fruit. We found the food, atmosphere, and service to be wonderful and the prices reasonable.

Based on other trip advisor reviews we decided to try this restaurant. We were the only ones in the restaurant so were a bit concerned. However we found the food to be truly yummy. the smoothies were delicious. We tried the strawberry and banana. Our entrees were superb. The jerk chicken was flavorful and was served with rice and cabbage and a plantain. These sides were very tasty. We also tried the seafood gumbo which was wonderful. The coconut shrimp was also delicious. All in all everyone said that the food they ordered was wonderful. We got key lime pie to go and they were attentive to provide forks. (As they had found out that we were passing through. ). It is a small place but well worth the drive. The inside had fun decorations from Jamaica and we all enjoyed being able to have a conversation without having to shout. Highly recommend trying this family run restaurant.
