“Great value in fine dining”
Reviewed February 11, 2014 via mobile

It started poorly. Three couples met and were shown to a nice table at the back room upstairs. As we sat down, one glass of red wine spilled because the joint between the two tables was uneven. The server clearly thought it was our fault. It was their fault, IMHO, but who cares who was right? Would it hurt their profit so much that they could not replace a $9.00 glass? Here, I am writing about a spot of bad service instead of praising their other attributes. Sniff!

We all ordered from the Early Bird menu, which was excellent. Food was very good, as was the value. The server claimed to be expert on wine, but in a manner that caused us to ignore her. Presentation was better than good. A good evening, but for that glass of red... We have been there several times, and for snow birds, that means something.

“Wonderful ambiance”
Reviewed February 8, 2014

A lovely place to share coctails and appetizers. The service was excellent, the calamari some of the best I ever had. Definitely not your run of the mill bar food. It's also quite beautiful...we relaxed on the sofas and were treated like royalty even though we did not order a huge meal. Will definitely return for dinner.

“Outstanding Food and Service”
Reviewed February 6, 2014 via mobile

On a street in Naples where there are restaurants vying for your business, Cafe Bar Lurcat is a standout. The food is unusual in both presentation and preparation. The service is impeccable with waitstaff who not only know the menu but know the ingredients and are willing to go above and beyond if requested. We loved the sausage that was part of our ginger shrimp and sausage appetizer. Our waiter went to the kitchen to take a picture of the package for us. We were looking for a suggestion for a follow up to our appetizer- no problem. Our waiter offered the perfect second course. Cafe Lurcat offers food that takes time to prepare. Please don't expect fast food. Do expect wonderful service, outstanding food, and everything with an element or two that you wouldn't expect- a perfectly cooked egg atop your fried rice that flows into the sausage, shrimp and rice melding it all and looking like a flower.
If you can, ask for Joe. He was our waiter. He actually made our evening even better with his subtle attention to our every need.

“Good Spot on 5th”
Reviewed January 30, 2014

The restaurant enjoys a good location on 5th Avenue and gives the opportunity to watch the world go by as you dine. The evening that we dined here was cool but we still managed to eat outside with the aid of the abundant heaters that our server was only too happy to move around to ensure our maximum comfort. The upstairs dining room was really nice but there were no heaters on the veranda.
We arrived early and opted for the early bird menu (3 courses for $29.95). This offered a reasonable choice of dishes for starter and main with donuts for dessert. There were four of us in our party and each of us selected something different from the menu. The dishes all arrived in a timely fashion and everyone was very happy with their food and the service. When it came to dessert we all thought that we were too full to eat any more, but the donuts looked good and weren't too big so we succumbed to temptation.
We arrived early and were dressed very casually but by the time we came to leave (around 7.30 pm) there were some customers arriving in smarter attire (cocktail dresses and gents in jackets) so if you want to get dressed up you can do.
All in all we had a good experience and wouldn't hesitate to go back next time we are in Naples.

“Nice Experience”
Reviewed January 29, 2014

Another good restaurant on 5th Ave. Great dinner specials prepared with lots of taste and wonderful presentation. The apple, cheese and chive salad was exceptionally tasty. Our server Shannon was a delight. A good good find.
