We've patronized Giovanni's occasionally for a number of years. Not a destination restaurant, but the food was usually adequate and it's close by. THIS visit, however, was definitely our last. Nearly empty on a recent weeknight, the service was exceedingly slow. Turns out that was the least of the problems. One of our party ordered stuffed shells, a special that evening. Another diner, the ravioli from the menu, and I, chicken Marsala.
Both the shells and the ravioli had areas of that crunchy, chewy texture only freezer burn can cause. The sauce on the chicken Marsala was not only NOT a Marsala sauce, but it was so excruciatingly sweet it was inedible.

A polite request to have the dish replaced with something else (diner is diabetic) brought the manager to the table. She was beyond rude to the point of being surly and argumentative. The end result was, yes, another selection was prepared, BUT the length of time it took until it was brought to the table ( the rest of the party had finished eating) was so excessive, it reeked of spiteful revenge. Bottom line - never, ever again.

We live close by so we do stop in once in a while, but not any more. Today we had friends visit from out of town and stopped in at 340pm, not wanting any specials but just a glass of wine. We were told they open at 4, and in so many words we were welcome to leave. The place was empty! If you are not open, lock the door! There are to many great places in Naples to go than bother with this one. Not to smart, just Rude!

My husband and I just wanted to have a drink, soup, and share a pizza. We were not allowed to order a regular size pizza unless we sat outside or in the bar. We were already seated in the restaurant. The only pizza we could order were personal pizzas which were $11.00 each. We ended up staying seated where we were and ordering 2 small pizzas. The pizzas consisted of 4 very small pieces. The bill was over $60 for 2 small pizzas, soup, and one drink! The pizza was good but I didn't know we practiced communism in the US!! I will never go back there again.

Both lasagna and manacotti were melt in your mouth good. Garlic rolls were hot and chewy on the outside, just like we like them. Staff pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend.
