I have visited this location before as I am generally a Big Fan of CB. However, this past visit really disappointed me for several reasons. We stopped by mid day. The restaurant was not very busy and there were plenty of free tables and wait staff on both sides of the partitioned areas. We were three adults. With all the open tables available they seated us very near a large gathering that had a few very young children (who I heard... upon arrival to the podium but had no idea where the Noise (putting it mildly) came from) I realize it is not the place of the restaurant to actually handle undisciplined children or actually discourteous adults that enjoy eating with Shrill screaming in their ears, BUT with so many other places to place customers, there was no reason to plop us down so close to the large gathering. Common sense should have prevailed. They/staff clearly noticed because there was a "vibe" among the other customers that were also rolling their eyes ..near by. I saw a young couple actually shaking their heads and they left abruptly. But, onto the food. The waitress appeared and was pleasant and despite giving her clear indications before we ordered that it was uncomfortable (noise) for us, she ignored the situation at hand and robotically did her welcome speech. We ordered breakfast and lunch among us. I ordered a grilled cheese with tomato sandwich that came with fries. Awful! the bread was a Gushy Floppy Soggy mess and Crisp it was not. Butter soaked?? The french fries were even worse! I was given a Lump of fries that were so heavy and grease logged ...they were not edible at all. I generally do not like to return food unless its totally inedible and this qualified. Meanwhile the other two members of the party ordered pancakes and a chicken dish. The pancakes Im told were good, not great as typical. And we had to ask for the syrup. The chicken dish was mostly eaten. I politely brought the frie situation to the attention of the waitress. She seemed to look at them and then before she would whisk my entire meal away, I asked if she could just take the fries (not yet realizing the sandwich was also subpar) so Id atleast have something to eat as I was quite hungry at the time. She took the fries and disappeared. And I waited...and waited...Huh?? The bites of the grilled cheese (cheddar) were as I suspected, less than good, but sitting there as the rest of the party was eating and atop the screaching crying ///, it was getting worse by the minute. The fries come back and Im told that they are new ones (huh, I should think so) The creaming continues.....And then a male manager comes by and says the cook must have took them out too son, earlier? No, it looks like they were either sitting in the grease forever or are they re-using OLD grease over and over and the fries were just soaking it all up? Either way, I was alone to eat ....as the rest of the party was already done with their meals..The manager indicates that the others were not good. These new ones are marginally better. meanwhile we did not get water or soda refills, no pass by to see if we needed anything and no ketchup at the table, that I can recall.
The bill was not adjusted and honestly it should have been. Customer Service was one of the reasons we frequent the chain and it was sorely lacking this visit. If a manager goes out of his way to acknowledge an Issue than he should proactively make it a point to acknowledge it on the bill, otherwise, its just "talk"
As far as the Inconsiderate adults of SCREAMING children..that ignore their kids...I get it, kids have tantrums sometimes, but its not your home, its an eating establishment..so please find out what is making that child so very miserable and respond to help the little one ..rather than ruin everyone elses meal, Perhaps consider taking them outside for a few minutes. And yes, I do think that an eating establishment has an obligation to make Everyones purchased eating experience as best as they can, so politely asking that family if there is anything THEY can do to help the child.(perhaps prompting the parent to realize the impact its having on others ...or better yet, Why seat others right next to that table anyway)...its a Big place,
Regardless, The meal was not good, the service was lacking this visit, and the dining atmosphere was Awful. We did not return to eat the two weeks we were there (and we usually grab one meal a day there) while local, but chose other places instead. Not sure we'll return.
