Last week we were vacationing with our family in Naples. We tried a new restaurant each night. Upon arrival we noticed the restaurant was not busy (this should have been a warning) but being low season we thought perhaps it was just a slow night. When our server finally approached us for our drink order she asked our 22 year old son for his ID (as she should have) and he promptly produced it. She looked at it and took it with her to the bar. Our son had ordered a beer. After a very long wait she returned and smugly said to our son "I brought you a water since you are not 21! We don't serve underage here!" We initially thought she was kidding around with him. Upon questioning her further she repeatedly said he was not over 21! We laughed good naturedly initially that he was indeed 22 and as his parents we should know. His drivers license clearly proves he is 22 years old. She then quite sarcastically and again smugly took his license to her manager who along with the hostess (have no idea how she got this job as she was very unfriendly) had to use a calculator to come to the conclusion that our son was indeed 22! At this point we decided to leave. At that point another waitress accidently bumped into our son causing her to drop her tray of water glasses. What a disaster of an evening. We promptly left and had a fantastic dinner at The Dock and our son had no problem getting drink order.
