“Outstanding Brunch”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

Wanted to go some where special for Mothers Day so drove from Punta Gorda to Naples for Sunday brunch. Used the valet service since parking was at a premium. We were seated and greeted promptly. The buffet was beautifully appointed. Omelets prepared on request by the chef. Pastries, fish, prime rib and so much more I can"t remember everything that was available. The desserts were outstanding. All and all a perfect day at a more than perfect restaurant.

“The food was very good. The atmosphere is nice inside NOT outside”
Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

We hesitated to enter because the restaurant looks " tired" on the outside. The plants are dry, the flags faded, it needs paint , it needs a renovation!!
they had a very good special including a bottle of wine. We try to seat outside but it was too hot an humid. We asked to be moved inside and what a difference! It is nice and charming. The food was delicious ! This people need to do something about the front of the restaurant , especially with all the competition they have around. First impressions are important. We took a chance and tried it but a lot of people are not going to take the chance.

“Not a pleasant visit this year.”
Reviewed May 10, 2013 via mobile

We have dined at the Lafayette previously on visits to Naples. They had always been a pleasant dining experience but this time, it certainly was not the case. We had booked a table for four for five o'clock . We arrived a few minutes early but could not gain access to the restaurant as the doors were locked. All the tables were set on the verrandah but there was no staff. We waited a couple of minutes and we saw a server placing glasses onto the tables. We approached him and said that we had pre booked. He pointed to the table at the end of the verrandah and said he would be with us shortly. We sat down and all commented on how brash he had been. When he did return we asked to move to another table as one of our party was sat directly in the sun. This again was a chore for him. There was nobody else in the restaurant . We ordered our food and the starters were fine. However if you order the green salad that is what you get. Copious amounts of lettuce with a mustard sauce. The main courses arrived with a small amount of cabbage and a few French fry shaped potatoes. The potatoes were hard and not fit to eat. I found the server. Yes I had to find him as he had returned to the inside restaurant area. I informed him about the potatoes and he said he would see the chef. Ten minutes later two small servings of potatoes arrived. No apology given. These potatoes were exactly the same. They were hot but uncooked. So nobody ate them. We informed the server but he said the chef cooked the food not him. The chef did arrive with our puddings. We told him about the potatoes but he just shrugged his shoulders and gave no apology. We all commented on his rudeness. We couldn't leave quick enough. I suggested leaving a fifty cent tip. Leaving nothing means you may have forgotten. Leaving fifty cents lets everyone know you were not happy. We were not. I had a quick head count as we left. They were ten other diners so the place was not busy and the staff run off their feet. Will not be returning as there are so many other restaurants to visit in the area.

“forget the baked Alaska”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

but don't let that stop you from going. I had never had baked Alaska before and was looking forward to it based on pictures from internet. I did not think the restaurant prepared this "just for me", needing to order prior to meal as menu said. Bland and disappointing, the marangue was not "crisp" or browned leading me to believe was cut from a big frozen hunk. Buy yourself some Sanders hot fudge (made in Michigan) and pour over some French vanilla Ice Cream-way more satisfying. OK, don't go for this dessert but do go for the wonderful food. Duck a l'orange was fabulous and so was the veal chop that my man had. I would definitely go back. Have to try the mousse au chocolate next time if dessert at all...
