“Go Back to the Future with World Class European Comfort Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

We stopped here for lunch on our way to the airport and were absolutely delighted that we did. The Saturday afternoon crowd was thin however the food was standing room only.

We started with a bowl of Slovak goulash soup ($5.00) and a bowl of pea soup ($4.25) as a substitute for chicken noodle which was still hours away from being ready. We were told the night before crowd cleaned them out and they had to start a new batch from scratch. Maybe there was a cold epidemic and they needed chicken soup … lol! What I liked from the owner was that he said if you don’t like the other soups you don’t have to pay me. As it turned out not paying him was the furthest thing from our minds. Both were classic old fashioned soups to die for. The goulash soup had tender beef and pork cubes, diced vegetables, tomatoes, green pepper, paprika & authentic seasonings. The pea soup had a broth and whole peas with grilled kielbasa pieces. I was expecting a pea soup that was more of a puree but this blew me away. I later found out that the chef makes her own kielbasa.

Next we split a potato pancake which was about 8-10” round and came with sour cream and apple sauce. Our waitress told us that it would be a tad greasy which she said is the authentic style. It was very good and came just as she said it would.

For our meals we went with an order of the Classic Goulash ($13.95) and an order of Jäger Schnitzel ($13.95). The goulash came with beef and pork cubes (not a hearty amount) that were blended with vegetables, paprika and authentic seasonings. I wasn’t asked if I wanted steamed dumplings, homemade Spaetzle or mashed potatoes and ended up with the steamed dumplings which had the texture of white bread soaked in water. Maybe this is the way they are supposed to be but for me I am not a fan of this style. The schnitzel was a huge piece of breaded pork tenderloin with light cream mushroom sauce on the side. Here too we were not asked if we wanted the homemade Spaetzle, mashed potatoes or French fries. It came with Spaetzle which was a winner. All dishes were cleaned to a whistle with no evidence of any food left … that’s how good these dishes were!

As a closer we split a Triple Yummy Crepe ($6.50) which was Nutella hazelnut spread, banana and strawberry on a crepe with whipped cream on top. It was unbelievable how good this tasted. Bravo!

Total tab with tax and 20% tip was $59. Note that they close for lunch at 2:00pm and re-open at 5:00pm for dinner.

“A hidden gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

So glad we read the reviews! After dining at some pricey 5th ave restaurants and at our hotel, we saw the reviews and thought some european home cooking was exactly what we wanted. The schnitzel with spaetzel was so good! They also had incredible potato pankakes....wish I could have tried the gulash and crepes!! We've got to go back!

“Delicious dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

We were visiting Naples for our 40th anniversary and saw this restaurant as #1 in TA. We tried it, really delicious . Wiener schnitzel was a huge portion and wonderful. Side dishes were good, too. Told owner it was our 40th, he offered us wine or dessert but we declined, too full! So he took 15% off our check!
