“Terrific getaway”

Arrived President's weekend. We'd stayed several times at the Ritz Golf and decided to try something new. We had a beautiful condo-style room in the hotel, with full kitchen, dining area, separate bedrooms and bathrooms. Ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant a few times -- service was pleasant, food ok. Pool is small and shallow but if you're just there to sunbathe it's fine. Near downtown Naples and hotel runs a very easy, convenient shuttle to downtown spots and the beach. Service was excellent, friendly staff and the room, grounds and ambience were high-end. Self-parking was easy and car was located near our room. Played at a number of courses within less than 30 mins drive. We had a terrific stay and definitely would return.

Just returned from a fantastic stay at the Bellasara hotel. It was everything and more than the reviews I read online. Spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated; just awesome.

We just completed a fantastic 8 day stay at the Bellasera. Bottom Line: not only is the Bellasera a wonderful condo-like property that is quiet, well-situated, and a super value but Naples is a fantastic place to visit. Here is a summary:

Hotel:
**We checked into room 323, a two bedroom, two bath, with sofa sleeper. The third floor is nice as it provides a great view from your screen patio.
**Room: We were surprised how many freebees the hotel provides. Aside from the standard shampoo, lotion, and soap, they also provide Tide for the washer/dryer, dishwasher soap, a free newspaper, WiFi, and Wolfgang Puck coffee. You can also reserve bikes, beach umbrellas, and use the shuttle service to any point within a 3 mile radius free of charge.
**Location: The location is great. It is about 3 short blocks from 5th Ave, the only downside is that 9th Street (..also known as Hwy 41) is very busy and must be crossed. While we certainly could have walked, we ended up driving and never had a problem finding a parking spot. All street and garage parking for 5th Ave is free. There are two garages on 8th street and street parking all along 5th Ave.
**There are three grocery store options located along Hwy 41 (9th Street). One is Wynn’s Market, located closest to the hotel only about two blocks away. It is just like a small Whole Foods market with tons of organic options. We found it somewhat expensive, but its most convenient and fresh. The second option is Publix, located about 3 miles away. It is the typical supermarket (for the Minneapolis reviewers, it is like Rainbow Foods). Finally, the third option is Whole Foods, located about 7-8 miles away. We actually went to all three as we really enjoyed cooking our own dinners and breakfasts while sitting on the patio. (All three options have great wine selections.)
**Hotel Restaurant: We never went to the restaurant, not because it didn’t look inviting, but because we enjoyed cooking our own meals and relaxing on the patio. It appears the food is good but the place is more appealing as a happy hour or pre-dinner cocktail meeting area. Their patio is great and saw more people enjoying a glass of wine before walking down to 5th Ave.
**Pool. Ok, so there are some reviews about the size of the pool. Yes, it is smaller (about 2x the size of a normal backyard pool) and it does become shaded at 3pm. Our experience was that the pool was never busy, always had a lounge chair available, and we were ready to come in by 3pm anyway. For those with small kids, there is no kids pool (…which to many is a plus). In our book, it would have been a bigger issue had the beach not been so easily available.
**Other: Two other small points. One, housekeeping is late here. If you don’t want your room cleaned at 3-4pm, call ahead and request earlier service. They did a great job accommodating our requests. Two, we noticed in hotel information guide that babysitting was available. We promptly called the front desk and were surprised they not only knew nothing about it but also said they cannot recommend anyone for liability purposes. Given the high caliber of the hotel, we wish this would have been handled differently.

Naples in General:
**We arrived at the Fort Meyers airport and were pleasantly surprised the car rentals are located at the terminal. No shuttle required; just grab your bags and drive away.
**Naples reminded us of Newport Beach in cleanliness and newness, Pacific Palisades in the quiet and quaintness (..along with no traffic or parking headaches), and Santa Barbara with the ‘cool’ feel of it all.
**Beach: The beach is fantastic. We went across the street to the CVS for sand castle shovels and buckets (..we have a 3 year old) and went to the Naples pier. There are restrooms and a snack bar, and some of the softest sand anywhere. Recommend parking at the corner of 3rd street and Broad, which is one block north of the pier. There is free parking (…meters elsewhere. Its not that quarters is a big deal but we prefer not to monitor the time while on vacation.)
**We went to the Naples Zoo, something we highly recommend if you have children. There are alligators, giraffes, monkeys, zebras, lions, etc. If you plan to go, visit the Naples Zoo website and purchase and print your tickets on-line. (We purchased and printed them the day we visited.) This will save you $3/ticket.
**We also went to Waterside Shops, which is near Vanderbilt Beach, about 5 miles away. It is an amazing outdoor shopping center that ought to charge just to walk around and people watch. (Stores include Nordstrom’s, Saks, Tiffany, Gucci, Coach, Louis V, etc.) It is very high-end but we did find a great patio restaurant, Brio Tuscan Grille, that we would highly recommend. It’s a perfect place to sit on the patio and enjoy a nice salad and glass of wine (…reasonable prices too).
**Cambier Park. Located about half a mile from the hotel at 5th Ave and 8th Street, this is a 3 year old’s dream. Extra clean and huge playground that is free and safe. It’s a great place for a picnic and allow your little one to run and play.

In all, this was a dream vacation for us and is something we will remember for a long time. We will certainly return to the Bellasera and to Naples. We hope you enjoy your vacation.

Had a great time at your hotel. There were six of us and we were so happy we rented the three bedroom. Plenty of space to get all of us ready to go out, and loved the pool and bar area. We were close to the grocery store and ended up making some food in the super large and well equipped kitchen. Loved the staff! Used the shuttle to take us to the beach and out to dinner.

After having stayed at the Ritz Carlton the year before, my wife and I decided to try a more economic alternative in Naples as her frugal brother would be joining us. You’d think the culture shock of going from a five star experience at the Ritz to a boutique condo hotel off the beach would be jarring by comparison, but the Bellasera proved itself to be a top class, feature packed value alternative to its more respected competitor. In fact, we were extremely impressed with the overall extravagance of the room and the tropical themed grounds with palm trees, lawns, and walkways. Though it was on a decidedly smaller scale than the Ritz, the landscape was no less exquisitely maintained. Perhaps we had lowered our expectations by anticipating some of the unimaginative, discount décor or the wear and tear that is typical of many condo style hotels with years of families and children doing damage, but when we saw our room our jaws literally dropped. Upon entry there was a sizeable, immaculately tiled kitchen with modern appliances, granite countertops and bar, a well decorated living room with couch, coffee table, comfortable chairs, armoire and television. There was a stackable washer and dryer closet, and this is where we were wowed: First we saw the one bedroom we thought we were getting for the three of us to share including two full beds, dressers, television, desk, bathroom, etc. But after we explored beyond the living room we realized the wife and I had our own separate master bedroom, with third television and armoire, chair by the window, huge master bath with his and hers sinks, marble walk in shower, and our own walk in closet. Plus we had our own sizeable lanai enclosed balcony with charming deck furnishings and a view of the grounds and pool. Apparently the very friendly and helpful front desk staff had upgraded us at check in from a one bedroom to a two bedroom at no extra charge due to it being off peak season (May) and likely under booked. I guess we were really just amazed by how much the large and beautiful space exceeded our expectations and thrilled we’d be able to really spread out in a “room” that had all of the comfort and style of a tasteful Tuscan villa. Not only did the space afford such convenience, but we loved being able to stock up the fridge at the local supermarket and cook with all the utensils, pots and pans, and dishware provided rather than splurge on each meal. But for those of you who would like to splurge, the Bellasera is only a couple of blocks from the many fabulous Naples eateries on 5th Avenue and does have its own restaurant (Zizi) on site that we never got around to trying as we were spoiled for choice. In all, though, when you’re staying for a week or more at any location, we found that the dining in option occasionally does have its appeal. We also loved the pool and hot tub, chaise lounges, and towel service which matched that of the Ritz. I’d only wished they’d have had a slightly larger pool, but there never seemed to be a crowd when we were there so the three of us usually had unfettered access to the length of it. And as for the beach, it was maybe a fifteen minute walk and less than a mile down Third Avenue. The walk is a gorgeous necessity anyway with all of the high end real estate and palm trees along the way and the beach itself is uncluttered, relatively pristine and has scores of stately pelicans patrolling the harbor. In all this was an ideal stay for the money. The Bellasera should absolutely get top consideration by any vacationer looking for the ultimate in value and a charming, spacious, and beautifully decorated oasis at a very reasonable price.

Room Tip: May be worth requesting an upgrade if it's off season

We have stayed in Naples before and for the money, hands down, this is the best hotel. We enjoy going to the restaurants and shops on 5th avenue and this hotel is close enough to walk. We did use the van service our first night to go to Sea Salt and we walked to dinner our second night to Truluck's, both were excellent meals. We had a two bedroom unit that gave us plenty of room to spread out. It was nice to have a kitchen area to keep orange juice and drinks on hand. All of the staff was very accommodating and helpful. The pool was nice not very crowded. Overall, we would definately return to Bellasera.
