Attraction details
Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Nestled on five acres of native Florida landscaping, our flagship museum at the County Government center in Naples offers newly created exhibits and galleries that capture the full panorama of local history. Pack a picnic and linger a while in the museum's shady backyard. Then do a little exploring on your own in our native gardens, restored Naples cottages, the archaeology lab, Seminole village or Calusa Indian camp. Enlarged twice, the museum's main gallery offers over 10,000 square feet of new displays, plus a traveling exhibit room, lecture hall, and gift shop.

“Old Florida Festival”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2013

This weekend we attended the Old Florida Festival at the Collier County Museum. The festival was very well set up and the staff from the museum was very active and helpful with making sure things went well. There were many people portraying figures in several time periods and they did a very good and had in depth knowledge of the period they were portraying. We went into the museum and saw the historical exhibits that showed early Florida. There was also a train display that was very nice. It seems that there was not a large crowd and that was a shame since there is so much to learn and see at the Old Florida Festival for children and adults as well. The admission price is very cheap and I urge others to attend next year at this time.

“Impressed with all they have to offer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

We were delightfully surprised with the amount of information this little museum provides. The history of the area was well done and infomative. The inside exhibits require a lot of reading so may be more interesting for older children or adults, but the outside information is appropriate for all age groups.

A hidden gem - worth finding it, and visiting. We went with our 5 year old and she loved it(so did we)!

A quiet place both indoor and outdoor displays Once a year rhe reenactment blows the roof off and you will see costumes and people who relive the past in as natural a setting as posible. Entertaining for adults educational for children you will talk about the museum all the way home.

“Good for local history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2012

This is one of four places run by Collier County museums and is good to visit to find out about the history and development of the area.
Surprisingly it has a railroad engine which the Naples Depot did not, but also informative displays and exhibits which really gave one a feel for how the Indians and indigenous peoples lived for hundreds of years, coupled with more modern changes and their effect.
Well laid out on a level site, easy to get around and follow the trails.
