If you're looking for an upscale yet more European/contemporary option, Osetra may be your new jewel on 5th Ave. S. The inviting atmosphere is made even more special with a hearty and attentive greeting from Milos--and his business partner Anthony, who is also the chef. Both young (and quite handsome) men, grew up traveling between Europe and the U.S. They must have been paying attention to the foodie scene--because attention to detail--from the exceptional wine, champagne and caviar list to the exquisite complimentary flavors that arrive freshly presented, are a treat for any epicurean. Additionally--amazing decor, art work and "chill" music--along with just a dash of the Naples "jet-set" is a joyful feast for the senses.

On the day of our visit the restaurant was changing Menzies and a few dishes were unavailable which was inconvenient. Also because of menus changes service was very slow. This is definitely not a family restaurant. Very limited menu -- though food was very good when served.

There is a combination of outdoor dining, posh lounge, bar service and indoor cozy tables in this very tiny restaurant with big flavors on the plate. The wine selection is wonderful, bartender Jared so welcoming we diverted from sitting at a table to just eating right at the bar. We shared a couple appetizers and entrees (and as simple as it sounds the meatball appetizer was absolutely delicious). A couple next to us was clearly enjoying their cavier. This is a very nice place to take a date or go with couples for dinner/drinks.

SInce Russian caviar was banned in the US a few years ago, our annula caviar -on -New Years feast had been on hiatus...until we saw the Osetra menu. Hallelujah, caviar is baaaack! We walked into Osetra on December 30th and were immediately welcomed by a smiling greeter, Manager/Waiter Jarrett, who is a professional dancer, entertainer, actor and all around genteel guy who made our evening a success. After looking over a very elegant menu, we decided to go all out and order the full platter of caviar, creme fraiche, chopped egg and capers over homemade blinis and crostini. Divinely presented on a silver platter, it was heavenly and worth the heavy price to us (at about $200). When my husband ordered a Saubignon Blanc, Jarrett came back with a replacement, letting us know that the wine had not been chilled properly. The Riesling was not to my husband's liking and Jarrett helpfully comped him the glass of Sauvignon once it came out of the freezer. We waited and waited for food, and later found out that the magician of a chef worked wonders on creating his overly ambitious menu from a two burner electric stove! How? We have no idea, but once the food arrived, two hours later, it was delicious. Every morsel. Veal, filet mignon, perfect fish. Truly delicious food. We are hopeful that with this new and expanded menu, the owner will decide to expand the kitchen a bit to accommodate grand meals in the style-- and timing-- it ought to be served. Looking forward to our next visit to Osetra! This is a great date restaurant, but if your kid has a somewhat sophisticated palette, it's also a great place to introduce him to the finer virtues of caviar.

My husband and I dropped in here on New Years Day looking for a relaxing happy hour. The 1/2 price wine was excellent and our special appetizers were delicious. I had crostini with creme fresh and my husband had a panini. The waiter was wonderfully attentive. An added note: we sat outside with our dogs and the waiter immediately brought out a bowl of water for them. Nice touch.
