“A day with Dave was great”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

We took the all day excursion with Dave being our tour guide. Being a long time resident of the Everglades area we found Dave to be an incredible resource of information on wildlife and history of the area. It was a relatively expensive day. However much was provided and we didn't feel anyone among those proving the services was really getting rich off us.
Dave went above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. He did his best to find us gators and manatee all the time feeding us an endless stream of information. The airboat tour of the mangrove forest and the boat ride to the gulf we enjoyable and educational. The restaurant we visited for lunch as wellas the parks and viewing areas we visited were all great experiences.

“Everglades Excursion with Kenny Hill - AWESOME!”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Kenny's passion for the environment - flora and fauna, ecology, biology and history of Florida was fantastic! And, he even knew a bit about the paleontology of the area - fossil shells.

We learned about early history of the Everglades, including history of the standoff between the Calusa Native Americans and the Spanish, Ponce de Leon, and the Totch family. We also learned details about the current wetland restoration efforts - water sheeting. I had no idea that Florida's restoration and conservation program is being carefully watched by other countries as a "test" of rebuilding the local habitat and food chain. This is especially important because of climate change!

We had a great time on the airboat ride and we were quite amused about the way the raccoons come out of the cypress trees when they hear the boats - the airboat operators give them treats! :) They fed the fish, too. We made stops to view alligators and take pictures, and I did hold a baby gator. Amazing animals. We had a wonderful time on the boat trip to the gulf and we were fascinated by the way that the islands were created (built up) by sea shells! WOW! And the birds, such an amazing variety of beautiful birds!

At the Smallwood Museum where the Seminole and Miccosukee Native Americans traded, Kenny picked a Sea Grape leaf and called it a Florida post card. Sure enough, we visited the Smallest Post Office and mailed the grape leaf to our home in Colorado....and we got it the day after our return. How fun! We then stopped at Grimm's Stone Crab, Inc. for lunch - wonderful! Gotta try the Grouper salad with the mango dressing and take pictures with the stuffed alligator in the other room - worth the giggles!

We also visited Big Cypress and were able to watch some manatees - how beautiful. One of the last stops including a hike through the Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk where we learned about some of the different trees and ferns and also viewed a nest with a baby eagle making attempts to fly out of the nest - quite beautiful!

“Overpriced and disappointing!”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

My husband and I recently took the 1/2 day Everglades Excursion tour. The ride out to the Everlglades was just a "miles long" ride in a rattling van on a bleak highway which ended with a short (10 minutes) stay at a roadside where you could get a glimpse at some alligators laying along the swamp. Then Dave drove us to the Airboats, where the driver took us on a "thrilling" ride through muddy swamps where we saw nothing but raccoons and muddy water, Totally overpriced for what the tour entailed. Glad we didn't go for the Full day Tour.

We are sorry you didn't enjoy the tour, by reading our reviews and seeing that the vast majority of our reviews are 5 star, I am sorry you didn't get the same experience as everyone else. Our tour is SO much more than how it was described in your review. I would encourage others to read the great reviews to get an idea of what it really is like.
Thank you,
Randy Smith

“A Limey,s day in the Everglades”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

This was an excellent full day out including lunch and all attractions and well worth the money. Kenny Hill our guide was full of local knowledge and did not fail to answer any questions hurled at him.. He kept us entertained when travelling between stops/attractions and went out of his way on occasions to try to make sure that we saw as much as possible. Although toilets etc were not provided on the bus we stopped regularly. We were able to leave bags etc securely on the bus whilst we were partaking in the activities which did require a fair degree of a mobility.

“Worth every penny, a must do attraction!”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

My girlfriend and I came to Florida first week of March 2012. This place started out on the bad side. We arrived where the tour departs 20 minutes prior to departure, and waited an extra 45 minutes after our supposed departure time. So we hit the road eventually. Hopped in a full size Ford transportation van. Luckily my girlfriend and I were sitting right below the only functioning vent in it, otherwise we would have been pretty hot.

So the tour took us out of Naples down the Tamiami route through the Everglades. As we left Naples our guide (cant remember his name, sorry...older gentleman) was VERY informative on everything from the history of first settlers, big named people that helped make florida what it is today, the eco system, EVERYTHING......HE WAS AMAZING....

As we head through the Tamiami we occasional seen gators out in the grass 20-40 feet from the road.

Non stop knowledge as we traveled to the airboat ride out towards Ochopee, it was great.

We arrived at the airboat place. I held a 3 year old aligator, which was pretty cool. We boarded the boat with a different guide (sorry dont remember his name)......HE WAS AMAZING. He was very informative with the Everglades. We cruised around for roughly an hour or so . He would go as fast as that boat could go at times and get us so close to over hanging trees you would think your going to hit them...it was a fun rush.

Towards the end of the airboat ride we stopped in an area where a gator was seen. So while we waited for it to surface, our guide starts calling for a RACCOON. Wouldnt you know, a raccoon comes on out to drink out of a water bottle! I got to hold the bottle while it drank. Cool different experience.

Then the gator came out for us to see, it was pretty big ...roughly 8 or 9 feet. Our guide reached out and grabbed it from under the chin and pulled its head out of the water for us....crazyyyyy guy!

We then went back to the dock, and seen a manitee for a split second right next to the boat.

Got off the boat and we headed back to the Tamiami. Our guide from Naples then drove us to a side road and it was gators galore!!! We got out and took some pictures and then drove back to Naples. All again gaining more knowledge about the Everglades and Florida.

Great experience, I will do this many more times to come....tour was about 4 hours...i think they have a 8 hour tour as well.
