Bit of a drive from Moorings area but well worth it. Excellent service, friendly informative and genuinely caring servers. Had the mussels in white wine - excellent to start followed by linguine with clams. Probably too much shellfish but hey loved every morsel. My wife has the lasagne which was excellent but quite a large portion. Try the pastry based sweets - again excellent. Good value at $105 for two plus tip including a bottle of Gavi.

For those of you who think that in order to have a great meal in Naples you have to go to either 5th Ave or Old Naples -- and fight the traffic and deal with the tourists -- then don't read any further. But if you want the absolute best Italian meal in Naples, and really the best meal of any kind in perhaps all of SW FL, then go to Sophia's. The food, simply, is outstanding. If you're into veal parmigiana, the veal chop parmigiana here -- pounded flat, served on the bone, filling the complete plate -- is not to be believed. The sea bass is amazing, sweet and plentiful. The pasta entrees are great and even the pasta sides are better than whatever entree you'd receive at an Italian restaurant in the tourist zone. If you're into dessert, the chocolate cake is one of a kind. In short, GO HERE! Jay, the owner, acts as maitre d', always greets guests as they arrive, and is a friendly and terrific host. The wait staff is well-trained, attentive, knowledgeable, and professional. Our waiter tonight, Mike, was everything you'd want in a waiter, and surely increased our enjoyment of the evening, no matter how delicious our dinner tasted. So what if Sophia's is located in a strip mall on Pine Ridge Road, 10 minutes away from the downtown crowds. Get directions. Rent a car. Hitchhike if necessary. You will unquestionably not be disappointed!

Went to Sophia's last night for the first time. It was spectacular, the best eggplant parm I ever had at a restaurant, their were 6 of us and not one person was disappointed with anything. The Veal Milanese was extraordinary. Great staff, great food, it will be our #1 place for Italian from now on.

Sophia's truly is as Italian as it gets. The Best of the Best. We were on a Girlfriends Road Trip to Naples and The Waldorf Astoria recommended Sophia's. We were thrilled from the moment we entered. Beautifully decorated, top-notch wait staff, beautiful music and table setting. The spaghetti with garlic and olive oil was perfect. The Chicken Milanese was cooked to perfection topped with fresh arugula and tomatoes. Perfect! The homemade sauce was just like our Nanny used to make. And the Tiramisu was light and airy - just the way I like it. The cappuccino was hot - a beautiful way to end the fabulous evening. Mangia!

Although this restaurant is not located on South Fifth Avenue, the food and service are spectacular. As an Italian, I am very picky about Italian food and this is among the best I have had. Very few places in the states can you taste the freshness of the ingredients like you do in Italy, but this is the exception. My compliments to the owner and his team from a fellow Calabrian traveler.
