It was our first time at MiraMare and we really enjoyed it. The setting on the water is beautiful and the outside seating allows you to enjoy the view. The service we received from our waiter was excellent. He even asked my daughter if her soda was okay! They have a good selection on their menu and the prices are reasonable for a nice restaurant in Naples. You can make a reservation which is a plus. I would highly recommend it.

In December 2012 my wife and I moved from NJ to the Naples area in FL. One moving present we received was a gift certificate to Miramare. We have friends (F1 and F2) visiting this week-end and decided to use the gift certificate for dinner on Saturday night.

The gift certificate was sent to us electronically via an E-Mail link. When we received it we didn’t print it out, deciding to wait to print it when we were about to use it. We go back to the E-Mail, click the link and voila, the gift certificate appears on the screen. Unfortunately it displays with a big red REDEEMED on it. Since we hadn’t used it, we there was some glitch the restaurant would be able to address when we called to make reservations.

We called for reservations. Made reservations for 8PM. Also mentioned the incident with the gift certificate. Freddie (Freddy?), the manager, advised us he could not resolve the issue. It would have to wait until Monday when the corporate offices were open. We decided to go without having the gift certificate issue addressed.

We arrived at the restaurant at 7:50. We were told we were early and there would be a little wait. While waiting I found Freddy and discussed the gift certificate issue with him again. He repeated that nothing could be done until Monday. I gave him our contact information and asked him to contact us on Monday after he spoke with the corporate offices.
We were finally seated at 8:20 at a nice table next to a railing overlooking the water.

8:25 – Waitress comes by to welcome us and take drink orders. My wife orders a glass of white wine. F1 orders a bottle of sparkling water. F2 asks some questions about the menu then orders a Coke with ice. Waitress walks away without asking me for my drink order.

8:35 – Waitress returns with white wine and sparkling water. She doesn’t bring F2’s coke. She asks for our food order. We advise her she didn’t bring the Coke and never asked for my drink order. I order a glass of Malbec; F2 again orders a coke.
8:40 – Our drinks arrive and our food orders are taken.
8:45 - Bread served.
8:50 – Salads served.
9:00 – Salad plates cleared.
9:10 – Waitress asks if we would like any additional drinks. I order another Malbec, F2 orders another sparkling water.
9:20 - No food, no contact from waitress.
9:30 – No food no contact from waitress.
9:40 – One hour after placing the food order food finally arrives.
9:45 – Freddy comes by and asks how we are doing. We tell him that we had to wait an hour for food, after placing the food order, and I tell him about the incident ordering drinks. Freddy shakes his head indicating he was unhappy and says he needs to go to another table but would be back. He never did return.

All of us thought the food was good and restaurant had nice views. But the service destroyed our impression of Miramare. Also, we all understand how mistakes can happen. Our expectation when issues do occur, is that management would make some effort to mitigate the problem with an apology and some token item for compensation. That did not happen.

It will be interesting to see how the un-redeemed (but marked redeemed) gift certificate will be handled.

We try to come here on our yearly Naples visit. Good thing we had a reservation. Somehow we always get the same table, next to the waiter stand, but they never once bumped us. The calamari appetizer was spectacular. The pasta with clam entree was delicious, the salmon was very good (slightly overcooked) with a wonderful berry mustard sauce. The liver was good but also slightly overdone. The veal piccata was yummy. The view was beautiful as always, and the service was excellent. This is a great restaurant, but make a reservation. We'll be back.

Everything was as we expected. Excellent service and food. I am a firm believer in eating a little later than most diners. Grouper Picatta was excellent! Lobster ravioli was slightly under-cooked but still very good! Caesar salad and house salad were very good. Espresso slightly bitter? Entertainment and a great atmosphere. Excellent dining experience! Very Happy!

Unfortunately it was raining so we were forced to be seated inside and could not take advantage of the wonderful view that an outside table would have offered. Inside was hot and stuffy and crowded. The wait staff was excellent and attentive and tried to do their best to make us comfortable and meet our needs. The food was very good, well prepared and presented. All in our party enjoyed a salad and a pasta dish which was more than enough and in fact there was some left for a take home bag. We will try to return when the weather is better.
