“Take your kayak and enjoy the water!”
Reviewed February 15, 2012

Note - this review is NOT of the Research Reserve. It is on a different road. Take Shell Rd to the end and there is a launch for small boats and kayaks. There are so many place to paddle on Rookery Bay. We have done it about a dozen times and always a different route. You see dolphins playing by your kayak and lots of mullets jumping. There is a marked canoe trail through the mangroves and even a port-a-potty in the parking lot at the launch site. No fee to launch either. It is busiest on Tues and Thursdays as there are group guided tours for kayakers. Don't miss this paddling site!

“The kids love it here. And so do we.”
Reviewed February 14, 2012

There aren't a whole lot of things for kids to do when it's not beach or pool weather, but Rookery Bay is a great place to go for a few hours (even without kids). There's lots to see and experience, and you'll walk away with a much deeper appreciation of the ecosystem that surrounds Marco Island and Naples. The next time the kids go to the beach, they see things a little differently.

“Worth the visit”
Reviewed February 13, 2012

This is worth the visit, you can spend a morning and not spend a fortune. In fact, make time for it and you can learn and enjoy the area a whole lot more after your visit to Rookery Bay.

“Great Exposure to local Nature”
Reviewed January 22, 2012

A visit to the nature carter is very instructive and enjoyable. Tours are excellent and we found our grandchildren did not want to leave. As adults we learned a lot about our locale. There are boat tours with lecturers on board, kayak rentals w and w/o guides (book early!!) and remember there are 2 sites. See website for details.

“Outside trail was poor - Inside stuff OK.”
Reviewed January 21, 2012

We went to walk their outside trail and found it was in poor condition with nothing of interest to see. The inside stuff was a somewhat interesting activity to do on a rainy day but look for discount coupon off the $5 charge.
