If you are ever in the Naples area, check out the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. It is a large Cypress preserve with a 2.25 mile raised boardwalk through the swamps and forest. Corkscrew is named after the winding river that flows through the area. The walk is just beautiful and you may see many types of wildlife. The trees are beautiful. This is the last standing virgin bald cypress forest in Florida. You feel as if you are back in time as you enjoy the walk through the preserve. This is run by the Audubon Society, so many bird-watchers will be studying the variety of birds seen in the swamps and forest. It is great any time of the year. Take the time to visit this true wonder. It is a bit of a drive, but well worth it!
