In the past I have enjoyed lemonade on the porch and cocktails in the bar here so I was totally unprepared for the uber-nastiness of the guest rooms. We arrived late so we just collapsed in a foul smelling cramped room with painted shut windows and a ugly worn out little bathroom with ancient - and not in an antique way - fixtures. The soiled carpets, faded wallpaper, and smelly bedspreads should have been replaced ten years ago. My husband swears he stayed in a $50 room in Tijuana that was nicer.
There is no sign of pride or caring in this building. I don't know who deserves more blame, whoever slathered the entire premises in teal blue enamel circa 1988 or the uncaring slobs who have left it it chip and peel in the intervening 20 years.
It is clear that this is the only game in town and, banking on history and location alone, management has neglected the most fundamental investments in maintenance, decor and amenities. They are charging top dollar while the place falls into decrepitude. Sagging mattress are made up with on cheap, graying scratchy sheets and the thin beige towels make the towels at my gym seem plush by comparison. The service is marginal, the amentiies non-existent and the rates exhorbitant for the caliber of the accommodations. I was mortified that we reserved a blockof rooms for an anniverary party and actually directed our guests here. One of them told us that he considered sleeping clothed to avoid touching the sheets. Stay in a local motel, save $100 and enjoy the view from the porch here for free.
