“Modern Getaway”
Reviewed September 2, 2007

We booked our girls weekend getaway at the Adora because of its modern decor and close proximity to charming downtown Mt. Dora. We were not disappointed. We stayed in the Vanilla room which could be configured for 2 beds. We felt like we were in the treetops. The decor was fresh and modern.
the shower in the tub took some getting use to.

Our hosts were welcoming and immediately assisted us with finding a place for lunch since we had been on the road. They also pointed out great places to eat, listen to music and or just get a drink. The map they provided was invaluable. They also made reservations for us and assisted another couple with kayaking plans. We were walking distance from everything.

Breakfast was delicious and plentiful with great coffee and good company.

As guesthouse owners/operators ourselves we were absolutely elated with our stay at the Adora Inn.
John and Arthur were exemplary and gracious hosts extending their hospitality with genuine interest in making our stay as memorable as possible.
Their hard work is evident in every aspect of this beautiful Craftsman style home that they lovingly restored, maintaining the architectural integrity of the structure and adding the functionality necessary for a well run B&B. The minimalist décor is inviting and relaxing, a refreshing contemporary escape from stuffy Victorian counterparts. Arthur’s beautiful artwork throughout the house adds splashes of color and whimsy to further delight the eye. Our Treetop Room was spotless, well appointed, and extremely comfortable.
Forget about what you know about the breakfasts served at most B&B’s. Each morning offered a beautifully presented and unique gastronomical delight; always fresh, organic and completely unexpected! We were so intrigued by breakfast that we decided to arrange to have them make dinner for us one evening, which was nothing short of phenomenal.
If you like nature and adventure there are three excursions offered as a package that John is happy to arrange. The excursions include a gourmet picnic lunch; again don’t expect the usual hardboiled eggs and peanut butter sandwiches! We chose to go Kayaking on the Wekiva River and tubing at a fresh spring. Turtles, otters, wild turkeys to name a few of the critters we saw took us out of our everyday element and reconnected us with the natural beauty of this charming central Florida town. Not that adventuresome? The Adora Inn is walking distance to the center of town so take your time to walk around and take in the local color. Go shopping, antiquing or stroll down to the Natural Hammock on the edge of Lake Dora. Truly a relaxing experience, there is something here for everyone and we can’t wait to visit again!

The Adora Inn was the perfect location for a perfect weekend. The Inn is a relaxed and comfortable place hosted by friendly and hospitable people. It is perfectly located so you can walk everywhere. Our room was spotless, cool and 100% comfy. Breakfasts were marvelous with fresh fruits, fresh baked muffins and good coffee (always important). The best part was the way we were hosted: when we arrived John greeted us and asked if we had any special needs and would we prefer the privacy of being on our own or mingle with the other guests. We mingled and had just the best conversation with others staying there.
** That particular nigh they were also preparing dinner and asked if we would like to join-in. There's not enough space to detail the menu so suffice it to say --Incredible Food! But the whole evening was superb....good wine, good conversation and a marvelous location. Do Not Hesitate To Stay At This Inn

I wanted to suprise my over worked husband with a romantic getaway. We stayed in the Treehouse Room and had a wonderfu time. The room was modern, airy and beautifully decorated! I wish I could have taken the big Roman soaking tub home with me at the end of our trip. We were just amazed by how beautifully the house was decorated and how open it was.

John and Arthur were amazing hosts, cooks & guides! Breakfast was just amazing both mornings!!! It is my only hope that John and Arthur will publish their own cookbook in the very near future! We had a wonderful time talking with John and Arthur and plan to make another trip next year to take advantage of the Eco-package!!!

Downtown Mt. Dora is within walking distance from the inn and if you would like to venture out further, for movies, a walk around the mall or heavy shopping (for those of us who live where there are not too many department store choices) Altamonte Mall/AMC theaters were just 20 minutes away!

  • Liked — Breakfast! It was the best breakfast I have ever had! And did I mention the big soaking tub up in the Treehouse room?
  • Disliked — Nothing! The Adora was wonderful!

We just returned from an anniversary weekend at the Adora Inn and it was everything we had hoped and more. We were greeted with a warm welcome by John and Arthur the owners, chefs extraordinaire, and care takers of this wonderful property. The Inn is very well located in the town of Mt Dora so you can walk to many restaurants and shops that were recommended by our hosts if you choose to venture out. The food, ambiance, and social atmosphere that John and Arthur have created at the Adora make this a very special getaway place for anyone looking for a wonderful time. We look forward to more excursions to Mt Dora and the Adora Inn. Thanks Guys for your wonderful hospitality!

My husband was turning 50 and I wanted to do something special for him. I booked a room at Adora hoping it would be as nice as it appeared on their website. It was even better than I'd hoped. We were both very pleased. Arthur and John were wonderful hosts, the breakfasts were amazing. I wanted my husband's birthday to be something he would always remember and by staying at Adora Inn I got my wish. We've both already told people to visit and stay there if at all possible.

We went to Adora to celebrate our anniversary. We were not disappointed. We stayed in the Treehouse room on the 3rd floor. A beautiful room with a comfy bed and the biggest bathtub we've ever seen! Breakfast was delicious and the hosts delightful. Walking distance to downtown. We plan to return soon.
