“Don't eat there.”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

The tablecloths and napkins are used by former guests. Thick flies eat from you're plate. The waitress is always talking with local guests and had no time for us. Appetizer and entree arrive the same time, served by a man in filthy clothing. The appetizer died ready a few hours ago.
After all this we could not even eat our entree. The food was just to bad.

“Do Mom a favor...don't take her here”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Mother's Day Sunday Brunches are known for the quality of food, vast selection, and quality of service. This old inn had none of them. Place needs to be refreshed in removing hanging paint and stains from the ceiling that was caused by a leaking roof probably years ago.
The lady making omelets didn't seem to want to be there and wouldn't consider making an egg white omelet and appeared irritated for being asked. She also made waffles and threw them on the people's plates when cooked.
The only time the staff replenished items was when they were told the food container was empty. No wait staff was checking the buffet items.
Our waitress had zero personality and dad to be told we had no water. First mimosas were free but only if you asked for one. It took forever to get our check and then she wouldn't take it right away because she was concentrating on the next table's drink order. To add insult to injury, the place an automatic 20% gratuity on a buffet!!
Garlic mashed potatoes had no flavor and the sun dried tomato salmon seemed like it too was sun dried.
We will never go back for any occasion.

“Adequate but not outstanding”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

We brought some visiting friends here for dinner. The hotel is classic old world historic charm. Huge wraparound porch with rockers to sit and relax, walls of windows in the Beaumont dining room offering breathtaking views. The dining room is large, tables arranged to provide a decent amount of privacy. The staff was attentive and friendly. We were not quite as impressed with the menu offerings. They offer an "early sunset" dining option that appears to be a good deal, however we arrived too late to participate. We did not receive any of the usual "extras" with our entrees: no bread or rolls, no side salad. Portions are adequate but not especially generous. I had the "stuffed" trout that was well prepared, but with about a small spoonful of crab imperial. The rice pilaf was delicious, but the vegetable consisted of a few pieces of droopy broccoli. I almost always take half of my entree home when we dine out. I cleaned my plate here and was still hungry. As we were leaving dinner, we did observe a large crowd enjoying a live band in Tremain's Tavern (which offers more "pub" food from what I could gather). Next time we'll have dinner elsewhere and maybe join the crowd at the Tavern for a nightcap.

“Ahhh ... so nice and relaxing”

Awesome view of the lake. Huge balcony with rocking chairs to just chill. Great location and it's not like all the other hotels. This one is different. It's very country-like style.

“Just OK; could have been better, could have been worse”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We came to the Inn for our friends wedding. The town wasn't as charming as we expected. Its mostly restaurants and gift shops, though it wasn't super tour-isty either. The neighborhood a few blocks out from town is NOT nice either so be careful what direction you are leaving/coming town from.

When we checked in we asked if lake view or updated was better, so after her descriptions we decided on lake view. We took 2 steps in the room looked out the 'huge window' (not) at the lake, saw a beat up old AC unit and marched right back to the desk. This was not an updated room which we knew, but it was certainly not what most people would consider 'lake view' either. It was darker, old furnishings and bedding and smelled musty - didn't feel clean even thought I"m sure it had been cleaned. The front desk agent was very nice and moved us to an updated room. The property has 4 buildings. The main building has most of the updated rooms. They didn't have any king bed updated rooms available, but they did have a queen and that was just fine with us (so be sure you are flexible on the bed type for a better room). This room was MUCH nicer. We were in room 7308, right over the patio with 3 windows that looked straight out over the grass and pool to the lake. This was a WAY better 'lake view'. The room had fresh paint, felt cleaner and was comfortable. Like other reviewers mentioned, you can hear alot of noise from around the hotel but it quieted down early the night we were there so we didn't have to deal with the bar noise or patio noise for too long. My husband wasn't too sure of this place from what we saw online so he had low exceptions but he ended up being pretty pleased with our room and the overall experience. It wasn't worth the $145 a night after taxes though, and it doesn't include any meals. FYI - there really isn't much lake frontage and there is no beach really. The catered food for the wedding wasn't very good, but the restaurant seemed popular.
