The lobster strudel is phenomenal!! Service was impeccable and efficient, piano player to entertain you. Good atmosphere and setting in the tavern, very cozy, warm and inviting. Will definitely return.

Ate here in the Beauclaire Room last Friday night. We were thinking of eating on the front porch but it was just a trifle too cool, there was live music in the lobby, and the lounge was hopping as well. We were offered the Beauclaire which still allowed you to hear the music in the background but allowed conversation as well. We were seated directly by the windows and since it was only 5.30 we could eat off the all inclusive 3 course early sunset dining menu. A real bargain at $18.95.
My wife opted for the pork chop(good but a trifle tough)and I had the steak which I enjoyed. The service was good and the hotel, which is on the national register is like being in a time capsule, kudos to the owners for preserving it.

We visited your Hotel Sunday, Feb. 17 th for Brunch driving from
Ruskin, Fla near Tampa. We brought along dear friends from Naples, Fla.
Our dining experience was exceptional right from the beginning, greeted by a
Gentleman in Dapper Attire to his careful choice of a table so we would be
warm during this cool day. Our omelets & eggs Benedict were \" Superb \"
Food was warm and coffee was poured often and delicious. Our Server, Nelson
was very attentive and friendly and is deffinately an asset to your dining
staff. My wife Rita has been here many times with girlfriends & her Red
Hats for day trips. We hope to bring more friends from up north to visit,
stay and enjoy your wonderful hotel & Mount Dora. Thank You Again, Jerry &

A friend and I had our Thanksgiving dinner at the Lakeside. The positive was the view of the lake. Everything else was mediocre - especially the food. The dinner was buffet - and they tacked on an 18% gratuity. That was after our server spilled water all over the floor while pouring water into our glasses. I would not spend the money to go back.

It was the huge arts festival last Saturday so we expected long queues for the few restaurants, however, we were disappointed with the buffet of chicken, pulled pork, mac and cheese, beans and a bun for near $16 each. There was also a tray of peach cobbler that looked like it had been dropped on the way to the buffet table. One waiter was running round like crazy trying to clear tables, give out tableware and cutlery etc. a young girl was taking orders for drinks but never actually got to us before we had finished our lunch- which didn't take long considering the limited options. Ok, a manager was apologising to other complainants that she had not managed to get more staff in, (and that was poor planning given the Arts Fair was not a surprise) but what was insulting was the check included an automatic 20% tip and then when the card invoice arrived it had a space for a tip, implying none had already been added. Sneaky at best and insulting at worst given we had served ourselves for most of the visit! On a visit to the restrooms on leaving I was appalled to look up at the net curtains to see years of dust, coupled with a broken toilet seat which didn't allow the door to open beyond it. Ok times are hard but hygiene must never be compromised. Very saddened, obviously won't return.
