A friend and I had lunch at the Windsor Rose English Tea Room. She had been there a couple of times, but it was my first visit. We each had the Chicken and Leek Pie. The pastry was perfect and the filling delicious. We shared the Maids of Honour for dessert "an old English favorite, updated with our own home-made lemon curd in a puff pastry shell and topped with whipped cream." It was just the right blend of tart and sweet. Our server was Annie, who felt like a friend by the time lunch was finished. She even shared her grandmother's pie crust recipe with me!
