We had a light lunch here in Mt. Dora. After driving up and down the streets to find parking we stopped here. We wanted something light so had to stick to the pretzel and baguette options. They were $7.95. Meals were 13.95-17.95 and seemed too heavy for lunch. The two people waiting on us kept our glasses full and were very hospitable. Quaint German atmosphere inside. They were very helpful with questions about the area.
The place was a little empty for a Sunday afternoon. Would like to be here when there is music playing--probably in the evenings.

Without a reservation on a Saturday night you may have to wait if you choose to sit inside. There is limited indoor seating, a few more available tables outside. There was an accordian player in the center of the restaurant playing - not overpowering, very enjoyable. We ordered the wiener schnitzel which was one veal cutlet cooked well but not tender, with a side of mashed potatoes ( real, not instant) also the sauerbraten was very tender (smaller portion than expected) with a side of red cabbage that was excellent. Another dish ordered was the Hahnchenschnitzel which was a very large chicken cutlet breaded and pan fried and tender. We also ordered the apple strudel with vanilla ice cream which was homemade with cinnamon, not too sweet, warm- and delicious. The coffee was excellent. There are only two servers but since the restaurant is small the server was accommodating.

We visited on Valentine's Day and had a great time. We love our server - she's the one that usually takes care of us (there's only 1-2 servers?) - so friendly, so much fun to talk to! We were seated rather promptly (there was a short line at the podium) and ate outside next to the accordian player. He played lots of favorites (e.g. Chicken Dance, Beer Barrel Polka) and it was nice to hear the music as we ate. Of course we had beer (Hofbrau and Hofbrau Dunkel) - and our food included our favorites such as obazada and potato pancakes, as well as spatzle, red cabbage, sauerkraut, garden salad, potato salad, and weiner schnitzel. Loved the food! Can't wait to return! :)

We went during the Art Festival, so it was very busy. But the food was fast and good. Traditional atmosphere, deco and service. Danke Schoen!

We had lunch there on a Sunday and the place was packed. We have never been to Mt Dora and the village is super cute, the restaurant stood out from the crowd with its beergarden right on the street. The place is nice and the music draws you in.

We walked up and stood there for about 5min at least until the server greeted us and told us to pick a seat. I know that this is common in Germany, but hey, write it somewhere and we have no problem doing it. We watched other people having the same issue, standing around, no one acknowledging them and then just walking away. We were still waiting for quite some time until someone and took our order and brought drinks.

The food was good though and worth the wait. The Schnitzel was delicious and pan fried, they had great choices for sides and the menu was big and extensive. We would have loved to try more, but there is only so much you can eat for lunch.

I am torn between giving the place 3 for service and 4 for food, but there is no 3.5, so I rather give it a little more. The place could be great if they pick up a little on the service.
