After a 3 hour drive in pouring rain the manager of our motel recommended Saucy Spoon.
We were the last diners but the food, ambiance and service was Excellent. Maybe a little pricy but definitely worth it.

Our experience with the Saucy Spoon started on Friday night when we went there as part of a tavern tour. We found out that they would be open after the tour with the lounge menu. So, a group of us decided to go back and have a bite and some drinks. Well, they bent over backwards for us. The owner (Beth) came out after we were seated and informed us that, not only were we welcome to order of the full menu, but if we wanted anything else she would be glad to put it together for us. Our water (Dean) is the nicest guy in the world and couldn't do enough for us. We ordered a Bruschetta and Truffle Fries and they were wonderful. Before our ordered food came out they brought us plates of fantastic cheese and bread and olives and fruit, etc. After we ate and drank, Beth came out again to make sure we had a good experience and just for casual conversation. She is very nice.
Since our experience Friday night was so pleasurable, we decided to have dinner there the following evening. We asked for Dean, who was still the nicest guy in the world in spite of the long hours he put in the night before. He was glad to accommodate us even though we wanted to be seated in a section that wasn't his. I had the pork Osso Bucco and my girlfriend had the Shrimp-n-Grits-n-Greens. Both were fantastic. the pork was served bone - in and was very tender and juicy. It was served with a variety of roasted vegetables which complimented perfectly. The shrimp was done to perfection and was very tasty with the grits. I must say, I never had shrimp this way before, but I was very pleasantly surprised at how the grits worked with this dish.
I could continue about the very unique "salad bar" with it's variety of cheeses, olives, bread, etc., but, do I need to? If you go to Mount Dora, a very friendly and quaint town, by the way, you MUST experience the Saucy Spoon Downtown.

The food is fair the service is poor and the prices are outrageous. Other than that we had a good time.

We joined Saucy Spoon for dinner and could not have been more appreciative. The food is absolutely amazing. It may be a little pricey but when you see the portions and the quality of your meal you will know that you are paying for what you get. The flavors of the dishes were excellent! The steaks were cooked to perfection. Osso Bucco, Salmon, and Lobster Mac were devine. My daughters kids meal (which is not on the menu, but available) was only $5.00. The staff was very attentative and friendly. We will definately be back many times in the future! By far the Best in Mount Dora.
