The campsites are more private than most, with lots of foliage. Lake Wauberg is a short walk from the campground via a winding cement walkway. There's a boat ramp where you can launch a kayak or other small boat. Motors aren't allowed. The wildlife is outstanding--alligators, turtles and many types of water birds.

All around good park, go to the observation tower. It is nice to sit up there and sometimes you can see the bison.

This is a GREAT place to horseback ride, hike, picnic, walk your dog, bike ride, Kayak, canoe, fish or camp. We have done many of the above. Since we live near we use it as much as we can.

We stayed in the campground and toured the park a bit. We are older and not big hikers, plus the warning about ticks on the trail where you can see buffalo and wild horses was discouraging. Overall-that hike did not appear to be really long. We did take the short hike (paved) to the tower where we saw deer and wild turkeys (with binoculars). Campground was remarkably free of bugs even though it was nice & woodsy! Rest rooms were spotless. Biking would be fun (bring your own bike). Visitors center closes at 4, but had some nice exhibits. Florida seniors get 1/2 off camping, so our price was very reasonable!
