I had a reservation to stay there overnight for a cruise the next morning. We arrived into Miami at midnight and I called to inquire about the shuttle, as I was told to do earlier in the day before leaving for Miami. We waited about 15 minutes for the shuttle and upon arrival at the hotel, we were informed that the credit system was down. I had $80 in cash which would have covered the price I was quoted online, including the taxes. I was told that the total was actually $91 because the original quote did not include tax. I asked if the ATM was working because I needed a little more money but it too was out of order. At this point we were forced to look elsewhere for a room, but quickly found that there were no vacancies in the area. We were forced to head back to the airport and wait it out until morning for our cruise.
I understand that issues arise and machines break, but had the price quote I received been honored, I would have had enough cash. If I had been notified over the phone when I called for the shuttle, I could have made sure I pulled out more cash at the airport.
Looking back on it, after walking into the hotel, maybe it's best that we didn't get to stay there. It smelled old and I felt the service there was not very friendly. I think if the hotel actually had good customer service, they would have honored the online price quote and accepted the $80 for the room that would be occupied for less than 8 hours. Stick with the bigger name hotels in nicer areas. My wife was scared as we walked to a nearby hotel to see if they had any rooms left.
