“Stayed there a few times”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

It is a great spot unless you go there when there is a festival and there is no way to valet park at the hotel and you have to drop your wares and drag your suitcase around to the hotel. The hotel itself has not changed in years, just great service except for overpriced drinks, I'd say it is so convenient, I can't find better.

The hotel did seem to be dated behind some newly renovated boutique hotels but it seemed to keep with the times... the hotel at best is now an average but it used to be THE place years ago...the location, you cannot beat and that speaks miles if you want to walk.

Room Tip: BE NICE, call the hotel directly, I got a better rate and better room.

Had a nice experience at the Beacon. We had an oceanfront room on the 4th floor with a great view of Ocean Drive and beachvolleyball! The hotel staff were great.. espeicially Juliana, Reynaldo, and Julio! Definately the place to stay if you want to be in the center of the atmosphere of South Beach. The room was clean, however not much drawer space. Being in an oceanfront room on Ocean Drive can be noisey...but it is worth it to walk right out of the hotel into all the action. Will definatley return! : )

If you want to be in the centre of the action, this is the place to be. Right on the beach, restaurants and bars on the doorstep. Breakfast is good although we heard bad things about the restaurant for dinner (apparently not owned by the hotel). The room was clean, although small and in need of some updating. No opening window or extractor fan in the bathroom.....ridiculous! The air con in the room wasn't up to much either so as it was 90 degrees outside, it was pretty uncomfortable after showering! Staff ok, polite but not overly helpful. Would stay here again if I got a good deal but wouldn't pay the regular rate.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the front of the hotel if you want to sleep!

The hotel was very pleasant and accommodating to each and every need. The manager "Luis" was helpful as well. The entire staff was very pleasant and helpful. When you are away from home you want to stay at a place that makes you comfortable. The Beacon is the place to be!! I will return.

The Beacon hotel was a great place for both me and my husband to stay for our honeymoon. The service was top notch! I was very pleased with how clean the room and the hotel itself was. We will definitely be recommending you to our friends, and we will be back in the future.

A prime location, superb breakfast, excellent service. This South Beach property is a great place to stay pre and post cruise but also serves as a central location for exporing the South Beach area. As a travel agent I like to experience the culture of a destination and this property certainly gives you a feel of the history of the area. Definitely recommend it!

Room Tip: We were on top floor and did not face the baach which was fine as we didn't hang around in our r...

We booked the Beacon after long searches online. We had never heard of the Beacon, but knew the area we wanted to be and our budget. We were a little anxious as you never quite know what to expect when going somewhere you've never been before, but I have to say our entire experience from the second we walked in the door, to our complimentary late check out was just fabulous. The front desk staff were extremely pleasant and the service was outstanding. We were offered an early check in at 11am, given complimentary bottles of water and a quick and concise rundown on the hotel facilities. Our room was spotless. We had a double deluxe room with two queen beds and were on the 5th floor...away from any street noise. Infact we didn't hear any noise whatsoever, not from the street, or from other rooms. It may have been that the hotel was not that busy, we're not sure but we were very happy. The bathrooms are a bit on the small side, but if you're going to South Beach for the shopping, bars, clubs etc then very little time is actually spent in the room itself and a shower is a shower at the end of the day. Our bathroom looked to be brand new and again spotless, so we'll forgive the size. Julio, one of the bell boys was absolutely charming, nothing is too much bother. Each day when we returned to our hotel with bags of shopping, Julio was right there to help us with our bags. They offer a wonderful complimentary breakfast with coffee or tea, orange juice and then you can choose an item from a small menu that has something to suit everyone, eggs and bacon, french toast, omelettes, waffles etc. While I cannot fault the front desk staff, the same unfortunately cannot be said for some of the waitresses, a couple of them have sour faces and seem a little unfulfilled with their job, but everyone is entitled to off days so I won't harp on about that too much. The hotel is a great location. All the local shops are within easy walking distance so we didn't have to get a taxi anywhere, unless you plan on going to one of the malls. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, walking the street, especially on Ocean Drive can be a bit tiresome as they are constantly touting for business and cards offering specials are being shoved under your nose at every opportunity, but there's an easy fix to that. Cross the road and walk on the beach side until you get to the road you wish to turn up to get to Collins Ave or Washington and cross back over - easy! Be careful when eating at the restaurant there, it's extremely overpriced for what it is, especially when only a few doors down there are other restaurants offering exactly the same menu for a little less, but expect to pay top dollar to eat on ocean drive, my advice would be to venture up towards Collins or Washington and you can eat for far less. All in all, a great hotel, with a great vibe, helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms in a great location.

Room Tip: Go for a higher floor and towards the rear of the hotel for peace and quiet.
