We were disappointed when we walked into our room because we stayed in Tropics Hostel the previous year and that seemed better! FIrstly our room smelt of cigarettes so we asked maid to freshen it up which she did very quickly. Then I could smell cigarette smoke in my pillow the whole night ;-( which by the way was not comfy and the bed was rather hard and short I'm 5'7. We found dirt on bedside cabinet, our TV did not work and did not get seen to when we asked, our shower curtain fell and toilet got blocked up after first number 2 use. Telephone did not work for incoming calls which was very annoying.
On the up side, location is great by the beach, and surprisingly we couldn't hear any noise from our room. I found the temperature in May was good, cooling system. I must comment on the floor in the room, no carpet and the floor was dirty. Bring slippers or keep your shoes on or you get filthy feet. Our friends had a problem with no hot water in the shower, and no clothes hooks on the wall, we had one.
The guy on reception on our first night was friendly and helpful. We found that their deposit policy was inconsistant because I was told one thing and my group of friends another, that's not right.
Because there seemed to be so many things wrong, we decided to move out and not stay our 2nd planned night. A different guy on reception was being difficult about giving us a refund for the 2nd night we hadn't yet stayed. We explained we were justified for cancelling, he didn't apologise and just huffed and looked annoyed. I asked to see the manager, apparently he was the manager. After some assertive discussion he agreed to refund and we moved out and stayed in Park Central which was a lot better by far and not much more expensive. We shouldn't have had to do this so it was disappointing.
