We arrived late on a Saturday night and were placed in room 211, which vibrated all night from the kitchen exhaust fans. Staff had no other rooms available, but the next day they did move us to a much more quiet room and the remainder of our stay was fine.

It's a good value for the money, staff was very helpful, beach amenities were a nice plus (chairs, umbrella). No great views but room was clean and bed was comfortable. Restaurant food was great.

Could do better with maintenance: bathroom fan did not work; air conditioner thermostat wasn't working but room stayed cool.

We stayed (our family of two 18-yr-olds, one 4 year-old and 2 parents) at the Astor from 25 April-May 1 and had an absolutely wonderful experience. To return to the calm, tranquil environment of the Astor after an active day at the beach was pure bliss. The staff (Cory, Angelo and Willie) were warm and always responsive but never intrusive. We have been traveling to South Beach for the past 9 years and of all the hotels we've stayed in - the Astor is the absolute best of all of them. It is elegant (with a beautiful lobby and very inving rooms -clean and comfortable deco style). Despite it's elegance, the the hotel is not snooty but warm and welcoming (which is admirable). I think the staff at The Astor enjoys their work and it really impacted our experience as hotel guests in a positive way!. I prefer the Hotel Astor to the Strand because of that very welcoming and inviting approach on the part of the staff . When the tv went on the fritz it was replaced 5 minutes after we called. (With a large family, it helped to have the Wiggles for the 4 year old and the staff knew that!). We are definitely planning to return to the Astor (my teenager is already lobbying us for a short trip in the early fall!!).Thanks to the staff for such a wonderful experience. Family vacations are fun but not always restful but after my stay at the Astor, I actually returned home rested and refreshed.
