This is a great little hotel a couple blocks from the beach and only one block away from the famous Ocean Drive. It's close to the beach, the shopping, and the nightlife. The rooms are small, but cozy.

That being said, we had a few specific hiccups, all resolved promptly by staff. One of the sheets had a massive black stain, the shower knob broke off, and the we were given the keys to an occupied room. Again, all quickly resolved, but seem like things that shouldn't happen at all.

Overall, if you're visiting on the cheap, this is one of your best bets. Otherwise, go for broke in one of the beachside hotels.

I had a great room, with a huge bed and a lovely white leather corner settee, with loads of space, and the room was clean and airy. The bathroom seemed like the original Art Deco fittings so the sink was cracked, but the shower was one of the best hotel showers I've ever come across!

The hotel itself was quiet but wonderfully situated - two blocks from the beach, and with shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.

I arrived on Friday night in a tremendous thunderstorm so didn't want to go out to eat. The bar had entertainment, great wine and fantastic tapas - result!

I'd definitely stay here again next time I'm in Miami.

I have to admit that this hotel didn't really meet expectations. We had understood it had a pool, but it did not (though there had once been one). However, the hotel did provide free beach towels and chairs (apparently). The room looked nice enough, but was a bit sparse and did not feel cosy. The beds were comfortable though (which is important), and there was a fridge and microwave. There did not appear to be a bar or breakfast facilities (if there were, the staff did not bother mentioning this), there was no hotel information to refer to in the room and one had the feeling the hotel had almost "given up", so it was a bit depressing to return to in the evenings.

This hotel is in a great location. It is close to Ocean drive, the beach and all the clubs. The only issue we had was the hairs(probably from housekeeping) that we would find in the bed. Other than that the hotel was everything we needed to enjoy the 4th if July weekend in south beach!!

I recently went on a last minute couples getaway and did not want to stay on the strip. Perfect location. Literally in the middle of everything, clubs bars, museums, restaurants etc. 2 block walk to the beach and a block away from starbucks!!! They had early check in, but since the room they had available wasn't to my liking, they gave me another of lesser value. I was impressed that it was very very very clean and they changed the sheets every day. Bathroom was very clean as well. The view is not the best, but we weren't in the room much so it worked out great. I will DEFINITELY stay here again!!! Nothing spectacular about the staff, maybe 1 or 2 front desk staff were extremely helpful, others just disgusted with their lives and made it evident. Super bonus, but its part of the "Resort Fee" Free wifi, beach towels, tiny beach chairs and Airport Shuttle. Really glad I chose this. Recommend to anyone.

Very nice hotel, at a good price, and the room was lovely.
The problem was with the customer service. At first I was charged twice before I even arrived.
Upon arrival, late check out was agreed upon, but totally forgotten when check out day came.
Also, the maid service was very slow.

Overall, this is a nice hotel, very well located and good value, but be prepared that your stay here is unlikely to run smoothly due to lack of communication between staff.

i personally like this sort of place, a real old school hotel which captures what miami beach was really all about. the concept still works today. it's well located, clean and bright, with an attractive lobby, decent restaurant and bar / lounge. oh, and it's not a ripoff. i paid about $120 for a weeknight, another $15 for wifi and a beach chair rental. the wifi didnt work but who cares. the sister hotel the colony has a tiny pool and patio, but it's fine for a dip and the hookah bar / cafe, adjoining staffed with young smart waiters is cool.

i really like the fact that the rooms are not carpeted, so i don't need to worry about bugs and skeeviness, it's much cleaner and nice to walk barefoot. Staff was friendly and helpful (esp. Chris).
