Yum - double yum! A local recommended to us and we were not disappointed. We had sandwiches but plan to return for dinner options.

“The best meal we had in Miami”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

We looked this resturant up based on a recommendation from a facebook friend; this was the best meal we had during our entire stay in Miami. We were specificallyh looking for mofongo and Jimmy’z only offers it Fri – Sun. What a treat that was; the best mofongo I’ve ever had! The restaruant itself is not much for appearance and it’s not in the best area but put that aside when you dine there because the food is out of this world!

“Best for take-out”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Great salads and sandwiches in this tucked away cafe. Very little ambience, so we always get take out.

“Best Mofongo ever!!!!!”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

As a Dominican New Yorker, I must say that I am quite picky w mofongo.. It was perfect, crispy plantains smothered in caldo and yummy chicken. And I've had other delicious dishes here as well..rice, beans, steak, great salads and always great specials. A small, loud, muy rico neighborhood mom and pop shop...must taste for yourself!!

“Tasty, Local South Beach Food”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

went here on a thursday night after spending the day in south beach after hearing positive reviews about this place on yelp. we ordered our food and seated ourselves shortly after. the place is kinda small inside (4-5 tables max) with another 3 tables outside. we ordered the daily specials (shrimp creole and day boat scallops with corn/potato hash). unfortunately, the kitchen lost our ticket and we ended up waiting an hour for our food. however, the server, jimmy, i assume the owner, apologized immediately and gave us a free dessert on the house.

back to the food. the shrimp creole was very tasty and came with plenty of sauce and rice. it was finger licking good. the day boat scallops were simply fantastic. the scallops were seasoned perfectly and very tender. the corn and potato hash was very filling.

from walking in the door, jimmy, the owner, was hard working and had a great, but small dedicated staff. he was taking to-go orders left and right and yet was still taking care of customers dining in.

also because of long wait, jimmy also gave us a $5 discount off the bill, which was very generous. i was happy just with the free dessert and ended tipping most of the discount back to him.

this place is a couple of blocks from lincoln pedestrian mall, but if you want true local food, goto jimmy'z kitchen.
