Owner description: The New World Symphony (NWS), America's Orchestral Academy, opened its newly-designed 'campus' designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, in February 2011 (previously, the NWS was located in the Lincoln Theater on Lincoln Road). "Wow" is the perfect word to describe Frank Gehry's spectacular New World Center, where architecture intersects with wonderful music. From the soaring atrium, to the roof garden and the symphony hall itself, this building is amazing and the music that is performed here is just as amazing. This is a must-see (and must-hear !!) for visitors to Miami Beach and residents as well.

The acoustics here are fantastic, and the venue is small enough that it is easy to remain engaged with the music throughout even a long performance. No chance of drifting off. There is also a nice variety of concerts at reasonable prices. The building is fun to visit and it's easy to get to. If you've been going only to the Wallcast concerts, come inside once and get the full experience.

From Frank Gehry's fabulous design of the building both inside and out, to the many free or very inexpensive concerts, to 'Pulse', (their version of a nightclub), to viewing either oldie movies or screenings of ongoing concerts on the outside 3 story high wall in the garden...while relaxing on blankets or lawn chairs ( for free), the New World Symphony is a wonderful part of South Beach, Miami Beach.

I have only been here in the winter and believe this doesn't all happen year round, but anything you can do at the NWS, even to taking the tour of the building, is worth doing.

Our first night in Miami Beach, we walked to the New World Symphony to enjoy the Wallcast concert being held that night. What an enjoyable evening! While the concert is going on inside, it is being broadcast on a six story white wall on the outside, facing a lovely park. The picture and sound were both great, and it was so nice to sit on the grass and experience this concert on a beautiful Miami evening! After the concert, there was a fireworks show from the top of the building, set to music. Very well done!

The New World Center is an acoustically perfect, small venue designed by Gehry. There are many different types of concerts, from full symphonies and jazz performances, to outdoor concerts and short "welcome" concerts. The sightlines are excellent and the sound is the best I've heard.
Visit their website to see all the different type of shows. On our last visit we stumbled across $2 tickets for a 45 minute intro to the symphony which was outstanding!
