We made the mistake of letting the front man for this restaurant sweet talk us into having lunch there. The ambiance was wonderful as we people watched, but everything else was disappointing. We were shown a Zagat rating;; it must have been from years past, as the food was mediocre at best; bland, poorly presented, and with the "out of the deep freeze" characteristics.
There is an automatic 18% service charge, which is not mentioned on the menu. The waiter knew he was getting a tip, so he didn't care; the service was slow and inattentive, and one meal arrived cold. Had to wait a long time to get the meal heated up.
We were given a coupon for a 20% discount, but it was for only part of the meal; the 20% discounted didn't cover the 18% service. A cup of coffee ( not a specialty coffee) in a tiny cup was $3.50, a refill was another $3.50. Very poor value, even with the supposed discount.
We ate on the patio outdoors. I was upset to see a patron feeding her dog from her plate as she held the dog. Surely this must violate the health regulations of even a laid back place like South Beach. Management and staff saw this going on and allowed it.
