“Very Cool & Funky - Possibly Getting Just A Little Ghetto”

Restaurant is pretty cool. You go in, and immediately realize that the food there is presented in a carnival-like manner. The food is very good, and the service is also very good. If you're into the Miami scene, you may know that this restaurant is slight past it's prime 'hot spot' designation. In marketing, we call it the 'cash cow' stage. The crowd inside was a little ghetto, which was surprising to me. Other than that, it's a dying hot spot with really well-presented food!

“Presentation Amazing, Food Just Okay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Been to Barton G a few times. Mostly because it is a fun and lively restaurant. Every time I have been I say the same thing. The presentation is over-the-top but the food is somewhere between okay and good. Additionally, it is expensive.

“Great presentation but average food and BIG prices”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2014

This is a place for special occasions with groups. The presentation is wonderful and imaginative. The food is mediocre though and the prices are extremely high. We were a party of two and dessert cost $40! It was enough for six or seven people, but was silly for two.

“Good food, over the top presentation, way over the top prices”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2014

One of those places whose reputation precedes it. Everything is presented in an over the top, hokey manner. Probably not the best spot if you're looking for romance, despite the beautiful ambiance of the outdoor garden seating, unless you can pull off wearing a Roman Centurion helmet like Caesar Augustus. Its more of a jovial fun vibe place to go for a good lighthearted night out. And trust me, you'll need a sense of humor once the bill is delivered. The food is good, but its not great. There really isn't anything unique or interesting to the way the food is prepared, it is prepared properly though. The prices are astronomical though. $20 cocktails, $30 appetizers, $75 appetizer specials, $50 entrees, $80 specials, $40 desserts. Yea sure your cocktails come with a chocolate monkey hanging on the side... which you just paid $10 more for. Yea sure, your food comes with a giant fork, sword, or roman helmet... which you just paid x2 the average price for. All that being said, would I go again? Yes, if a friend from out of town was visiting and offered to pay. Once on my dime was enough for me.

“An experience but living off a faded Versace reputation”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2014 via mobile

We came for our 30th wedding anniversary. Pulled up at the entrance to find the doorman charging someone to have their picture taken in the doorway of the Villa! Booked quite a way in advance and arrived early hoping for pre meal drinks by the pool. We were shown into a small dark almost medieval type room for cocktails then quickly into the dining room which was small, half empty. Menu is Italian based. Quite expensive, we chose pasta starters at about $21 and $24. I had a tagliettelli type bolognese which was huge and my partner a ravioli which was the same. I noticed a few tables sharing starters or starters and deserts which is what we should have done. Mains was Dover sole at $48 and snapper at $36. Have to say mine came with carrots, new potatoes and green beans. Fairly bog standard food and fish was over cooked. We shared a desert , key lime custard which was lovely. Wine was annoying and over priced! Ordered a Sancerre at $64 and was told they didn't have that wine but would bring something similar. When it came to the bill it was actually $ 96. Should have complained but didn't want to spoil the evening. Coffee by the pool which was nice. Memorable meal and lovely surroundings if not faded and dated. Men's toilet had missing tap and plaster marks were repairs to the wall. Cost us $370 for 2. I think overpriced and food of average standard but I'm not sure if that's the standard the Americans expect! Enjoyed the experience but would not return and perhaps would not recommend. I don't think they would get away with that standard of food in the uk for that money
