Description: Overlooking Ocean Drive from the veranda of the Avalon Hotel is the 25 year old, acclaimed restaurant, A fish Called Avalon. Cuisine features local seafood prepared with a sensuous, tropical flair. An extensive wine reserve and full service bar naturally compliment our great food.

Easily the best seafood of our holiday. Small, friendly bar with helpful staff & excellent cocktails. Best mojito on Ocean Drive.

We ate here on our last night in Miami and thought it was lovely. Our hotel booked us a table and we were seated on the veranda which was perfect for enjoying the view whilst eating our meal. The service was excellent and our party of 4 - including 2 children - all enjoyed our food. It was quite pricey (the most expensive meal of our trip) but to be expected based on the location. Our experience was different to other reviewers, we really enjoyed our meal and would recommend eating here.

Dear Guest,

It was our great pleasure to make your family’s last dinner in South Beach (for this trip, at least) one to remember. Thank you for taking time to write about how much you enjoyed the experience, and for recommending us to others.

Very Disappointed with this restaurant although I was told it's one of Miami's best restaurants. Sea food never tasted that bad and wasn't even cooked well, made me sick after dinner. Service was poor not even asked what to drink ! I asked for a coke which tasted like rusting iron ! They replaced by regular coke which tasted the same . Paid the bill feeling I was ripped off ( 100 bucks for a stomach ache ) !

- we had dinner at Avalon while on our vacation in miami
- the stuff is very friendly
- the food was just ok, we were expecting a better quality of fish
- the price was expensive for what we ordered
- the location is very central but very touristic. If you want to spend that money you better go to other trendier restaurants in town (Zuma, Hakkasan for example...)

Thank Rosa C

Again recommend by our our hotel we had an early booking at 6pm, which is actually he time the place opens.

We sat on the terrace which was great for the atmosphere but by the time we left we were boiling and our shirts were wet!

We started with the shrimps which came with a lovely tomato salsa, calamari which was so large you could share and scallops, all very nice. Mains were the special which was swordfish in bbq and salmon which was a bit dry. Service was good think we had a guy called Sheldon.

Overall nice and worth a visit.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for your enthusiastic comments about the seafood you enjoyed, and the professional service. Unfortunately August weather in Miami Beach is quite a bit warmer than August in the UK. When you return, as I hope you will, consider a table indoors where the air conditioning will keep you cool and comfortable.
