South Beach can be a bit much with the pools, drinks and chi-chi scene. Sometimes you just want something downright delicious where the people are friendly and the prices good.
Playa Cafe is a Latin restaurant with choices from all over Central America and the Spanish Caribbean. I was literally the only non-native Spanish speaker but the menu has pictures and the ladies behind the counter will answer questions. So many good choices and everyone looked happy and the food amazing. Decided on a Cubano (why not, it’s Miami) and the thing exceeded my already heightened expectations. Both savoury ham and crispy shredded pork with melted cheese out the sides pickles and who cares deliciousness; you could easily share this monster. An extra $2 gets you fries and drink and it’s still $10.
Food gets an 11/10 and service was efficient and friendly. It’s certainly NOT fancy and if you like Senior Frogs this is NOT for you (but lucky you, it’s around the corner!).
Could not be happier and can’t wait to go back and try something else!

When we recently stayed in Miami Beach at the Loew's Hotel, we went looking for alternative inexpensive places to eat breakfast and found this gem. The place is primarily populated with locals and working people. The food is plentiful and delicious and the prices ridiculously low.

Try the Desayuno Centroamericano. You can't beat the fried cheese.

I wish we had found this little place the first day we arrived, the food was tasty and the prices are fantastic, especially for the area. It's a small place but worth the wait. I found the staff friendly.
