Description: The Forge is one of South Florida's most legendary steakhouses, dating back to 1969 on Miami Beach. The award-winning restaurant is not your grandfather's steakhouse - although it once was. With its modern décor, ambiance and philosophy, The Forge has undergone a total makeover, the overall design and décor was executed by Francois Frossard. Walls of hand-carved blonde wood and antique mirrors, lilac and white crystal chandeliers, a wall of bubbles - are perfectly interspersed with the historical pieces that adorn the space. Every diner's seat is "the best in the house." The open floor plan of the 6,000-square-foot space allows guests to see and be seen. Executive Chef Julia Doyne presents a 65-item menu along with a delicious Dessert Menu. Finally, there's a labyrinth-like Wine Cellar with eight-rooms devoted to the rarest vintages in the world, and even a secret, lux private dining room, which seats up to 25 guests. The bar offers guest 64 Enomatic's wines by the ounce.

A delightful night out in a restaurant that has one of the most comprehensive wine lists anywhere. Walking through the glitzy setting gives one a feeling that a nice dining experience awaits. It does ! Fine service and well prepared food await. Am I the only one who felt ambushed by the $6.00 coffee ?

“Amazing experience”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

I have been dining at most restaurants in miami and I must say its one of the best experience I had at the Forge. And for those who are searching for the culinary and best wine experience Forge is the place to be.

I was at a bachelorette party at Forge. I was impressed with the gorgeous ambiance and best wine selections. Server Mike Moon provided professional and warm service. Excellent knowledge of food and cocktails . we were taken to a tour of the restaurant and Were told about the history of the restaurant. We were happy with the information he had and he suggested us the best wine we ever tasted. The oyster chandelier was amazing.

Though we came here with a coupon benefits we were treated no differently than regular guests.

The restaurant was a blend of good food , wine and excellent professional service by Mike Moon.

There is no doubt we would be visiting the restaurant again ,not to forget about the Friday night specials which we were informed about and definitely recommending it to my other friends.

One of the hottest restaurants in town.

“Excellent! From start to finish!”

Fabulous atmosphere... The staff was pleasant and attentive. Which is of course important... But if you come to The Forge...You come for the food!

My steak and all the trimmings were perfect in every way.

A perfect jewel for steak lovers in the heart of Miami Beach.

“Remarkably excellent - service, food and ambience”
Reviewed June 14, 2014

Wife and I were so excited to visit and our expectations were high. Boy, were they ever met.

Even as we entered greeted so courteously and warm and escorted to table immediately.

Our first course we shared the English Pea Ravioli and the Seared Foie Gras. First the ravioli was so gentle to out taste buds with it warm pasta exterior, the wonderful foam 'sauce', that delicious green interior and the herbs and asparagus. The foie gras was such a treat. I am a fan of it and sweet things, who thought I could enjoy both at the same time. The foie gras was cooked perfectly, almost hot yet, nice and red and succulent. And of course the donut it was served on was equally unique and delicious! The sauce too just added to our fun and enjoyment.

Maine courses: bone in filet mignon and the salmon. Again the meat the was cooked just as my wife ordered it, and the taste was fabulous. She did not order any toppings but was not aware it was served on a bed of some kind of garlic sauce. That was our only disappointment. My salmon was also cooked exactly as ordered and the sauce - don't know what to say other than I loved it! The curry yogurt with those tiny peas, carrots and pieces of nut was awesome.

For sides we had asparagus and the black truffle mac and cheese pot pie. The asparagus - no special sauce, but they were so fresh and not over cooked - delicious. The mac and cheese pot pie something to dream for. Like truffles? Like mac and cheese? You will love this side order.

Our dessert was the grand marnier soufflé something we love and find hard to almost impossible to find on the south west coast of Florida where we live. We had our eyes closed as we enjoyed this fabulous soufflé. Accompanied our dessert was espressos. And here the espresso is actually delivered to your table hot. In so many places by the time it arrives at table it is already cool. But here it is served perfectly.

And let me now say something about the service. So efficient, courteous and friendly. Perfect since my wife and I conversation was never interrupted yet our wine glasses (actually champagne) were always at the proper level. Our food courses were time separated to allow for more talk and digestion of each course. Perfect.

Finally, the wine choices by the glass (80) were to write home about. After studying them and the champagne we decided on a full bottle which was delicious and reasonably priced for a restaurant.

This was a wonderful evening for both ambience, service and food. A great experience we plan on repeating whenever we are in Miami.

“Name should be changed to "Forgery"”
Reviewed June 11, 2014

According to www.dictionary.com, the term "forge" is defined as:
forge [fawrj, fohrj] verb (used with object), forged, forg·ing. 1.to form by heating and hammering; beat into shape. 2. to form or make, especially by concentrated effort: to forge a friendship through mutual trust. 3. to imitate (handwriting, a signature, etc.) fraudulently; fabricate a forgery.

Of course the owners and associates of The Forge would prefer for everyone to believe that the restaurant likens itself to definition #1 or even better yet, #2 above. Based on our experience, they are actually closer to #3 - as they simply imitate, quite fraudulently, a good restaurant.

Our small group dined at the Forge last weekend upon the recommendation of some friends. The initial experience with the hostesses and wait staff was very pleasant and we looked forward to an excellent meal. We were also so impressed with the decor and design of the restaurant - our server even offered to give us a tour after our meal was complete. What a wonderful start!

The wine list is enormous - almost too big. Great selections, but very pricey. The menu features a mix of seafood and beef choices. They tout the 16 oz NY "Super Steak" as a top choice by Wine Spectator. Salads and side are separate items and can be shared. Our group ordered with no real deviations from the menu. When our selections were finally served (it did seem to take a long time), there were some issues. The much-touted award winning steak was requested medium rare and served medium well. The Dover Sole was whisked to the table without being fileted by the server (when asked about why he didn't offer to do this for the guest, the server said that he didn't want to put his hands on the food - what???). Another guest ordered the Sea Bass which was served a bit cold and according to her "rather bland". There were other issues too which I wont get into here, but that detracted from what should have been a wonderful dining experience.

We ordered a couple of soufflés to share. When they arrived, none of the staff had thought to buss the table prior to serving them (opps!). And then, no dessert utensils (double opps!) The souffles weren't that good - too dry. It also would have been nice to have been offered coffee with dessert. But I suppose that the coffee, like the tour we were promised, must not have been important to the staff.

To me, this place is "forgery" of a Ruth's Chris; but you'll likely pay more - a lot more. There were lots of hip, cool, beautiful people sipping martinis and champagne at The Forge. I suppose if you're from Miami, and you want to hang out with the cool kids, then this is a place to be. If you're from out of town, or you want an outstanding dining experience, to stay away from this place. You'll be wasting your time and money.
