Description: The Forge is one of South Florida's most legendary steakhouses, dating back to 1969 on Miami Beach. The award-winning restaurant is not your grandfather's steakhouse - although it once was. With its modern décor, ambiance and philosophy, The Forge has undergone a total makeover, the overall design and décor was executed by Francois Frossard. Walls of hand-carved blonde wood and antique mirrors, lilac and white crystal chandeliers, a wall of bubbles - are perfectly interspersed with the historical pieces that adorn the space. Every diner's seat is "the best in the house." The open floor plan of the 6,000-square-foot space allows guests to see and be seen. Executive Chef Julia Doyne presents a 65-item menu along with a delicious Dessert Menu. Finally, there's a labyrinth-like Wine Cellar with eight-rooms devoted to the rarest vintages in the world, and even a secret, lux private dining room, which seats up to 25 guests. The bar offers guest 64 Enomatic's wines by the ounce.

Good choice when visiting South Beach. The owner takes pride in every detail. Super bar scene and wine bar by the glass. Not for young children.

I have a general rule never to write reviews for restaurants on tripadvisor - but BE AWARE! This was the worst restaurant I have been to in over 3 years.

I am a jolly fat man who loves food - and I will list all the better restaurants at end of this review.

We ordered to start: steak tartar, bruschetta, shrimp waffles and fried cauliflower. steak tartar tasted like it was out of a can. bruschetta was like they made the toppings in the morning, and put it out aside and scopped remainings. fried cauliflower was fine - but just so oily w a tacky sauce. the shrimp was burnt.

we then cancelled 3 out of our 6 main courses - ate the venisen, the mac n cheese with lobster and gnocchi with lamb. meat - was OK if it was 50% the cost. the mac n cheese was ok too - but its not hard to make carbs, cheese and lobster taste remotely edible.

this place is a freaking joke - a typical vegas type wanna be - but hte food is actually BAD - not even not that good - horrible!

then the worst - they come in the beginning and brag about 7 different souffle flavors and having to pre ordered it. well we did - they burnt the crust completey. like it was a joke.

they took off a lot of our meal. waiter nice.

but this restaurant is clearly run by a bunch of tacky goons who have a complete disconnect between design/marketing team and execution of its offerings. food was actually horrific.

where to go:
michy's (amazing food), mandolin and michael's genunine - the 3 M's of the design district.
on south beach - dutch, prime 112 (food WAY better than forge, if scene is your priority).
pubelly and pubelly sushi are amazing. tonie's for low key sushi. joe's stone crab.

if you need scene - and dont care if food overpriced or potentially so-so - then at least go to meat market and prime 112. because forge food is actually HORRIBLE. for real

Our dinner was dampened by the attitude of the staff, who scoffed at our wine selection and threw away a $40.00 filet mignon that I could not begin to finish and asked to take home with me. Waiter claimed he "did not hear me." We also were asked to wait at the bar with a confirmed reservation that had been made over one week prior. This turned out to be close to an hour wait.

Although the food was excellent, the way the staff treats you (as if they don't need you or your business) is a killjoy. A 20% gratuity is automatically included in your bill, well affording these people to behave this way. Apparently, patrons do not get the opportunity to tip according to actual service experience, since the staff is guaranteed this amount. Their comfort level shows, and it takes away from what otherwise would be an amazing dining experience.

We booked here online before we left the UK for holiday. This was a special treat as we got married on the beach and this was our wedding meal for the two of us. We did inform the restaurant in advance due to the train on the dress and asked if we could sit where it would not be stood on.
When we got there it was beautiful and the service was amazing, the manager came and congratulated us and when it came to desert the chef decorated the amazing souffles with congratulations which was a very nice touch.
This is not a cheap restaurant but to be honest no where near as expensive as i thought it would be and the food was sensational in every way as is the decor and the atmosphere

This place is over the top in just about every way--the decor, the people and the food...and the food is GOOD. Lot's of interesting choices, healthy options and tons of pure decadence. Ladies and gentlemen, the Countess has arrived."
