“Simply perfect...”

The hotel is simply perfect, the design beautiful, and all amenities you could ever wish for (and we are somewhat spoiled and picky).
The people working at the hotel simply make the place wonderful, they are just as kind and professional as it gets.

We have found our new home away from home.

We really recommend taking their complimentary long boards for a ride along Ocean Drive.

We will definitely come back to the James Royal Park on our next visit to Miami.

Room Tip: Ask for a full ocean view room.

We love the James. The beach is beautiful and the location couldn't be better. As soon as you arrive you're treated like a rock star. The front desk address you immediately receive a warm welcome and smile. Lakeisha upgraded us to an ocean view and we were so taken with her hospitality and professionalism. The entire staff goes out of their way to please you and care for you. This was my husband's first time in SoBe and he loved it! I am so happy that I chose the James because now he wants to visit again! Big shout out to all the guys down at the beach~~you're awesome. Thank you for putting up with Frank. He can be a handful. Also, Hugo from the front door staff. [You now know what a fine piece of "real estate" is!! ]

I am not sure why some recent reviews rated this hotel as 2 or 3 stars. I had to write to tell you about my experience. I am here with my family (2 adults/two teenagers) right now and our experience is nothing less than exceptional and definitely warrants the 5 stars I have rated it. From the moment we checked in and were greeted with a nice glass of iced water with lemon, it has been a great. The hotel is unbelievably beautiful - the art deco and impeccably clean everywhere. This is our first visit to SoBe and I am so glad we chose this hotel to stay at.
Room: we got the ocean view two double bed room (1138), beautiful view (not oceanfront, but a nice view of the ocean, pool area), one of the best beds and linen I have slept in in a hotel. All the products in the room are of the highest quality, the daily free filtered water is such a nice touch. I-pod dock, lots of electrical outlets, nice TV. Cleaning staff do a great job every day to keep everything spotless. Whatever we asked for in the room was taken care of.
Free wi-fi, great business center. We had lunch in the hotel restaurant - very good, made all the better by the very pleasant staff.
Staff: Truly this is the place other hotels should come to take a look at how service should be. We are by no means VIP but feel like it here. The great front desk staff (Brian, Kamil, etc - I didn't get their names because there was always a line-up when I needed something, so I didn't want to waste their time chatting), well informed concierge staff who gave great restaurant recommendations, the beach/pool staff (has a great beach by the way/water is nice and warm!). Management is definitely doing it right.
We took advantage of the free bikes - just book it through the concierge and off you go. The best part is - there is no charge!
Great location - we walked or biked everywhere, didn't have to use our car. Valet parking is expensive ($40/day - with in and out privileges) so we parked across the street for $16 (no in and out privileges though). Valet staff are very helpful and polite.
It goes without saying that I would definitely recommend this hotel.

First of all the wesite clearly states check in time is 2pm!!!!!!!!! We waited more than 2 hours although arriving past 2:30! Unacceptable. As we could finally check in we were noticing people checking in at 6pm and their rooms were not ready. This is is a disaster. The service in the restaurant and the food are really bad and way too overpriced. I will never come back!

When we first arrived at the James our room wasn't ready so we had to wait for 3 hours outside the pool,which isn't ideal when you have just been travelling, it also cut into one of our holiday days considerably. We were overcharged on the bill for extras, claiming we had spent 60 dollars more than we had. They also forgot to give us any breakfast vouchers which we were entitled to from the start of our stay, meaning we spent more money than we had to everyday. When we did go to our free breakfast at the hotel the service was rude and appalling, and the choice of food was limited and with a 'continental breakfast buffet' you were allowed to have one piece of fruit and a pastry, the only way to get anything else, even a glass of juice was to pay more money! Everything was overpriced and when we ordered dinner from the hotel it was cold and had obviously been left out and forgotten about! The staff seemed to be inadequate at their jobs, not knowing the right information. Our room was nice and spacious, and housekeeping did a lovely job of keeping everything shipshape. Overall I am disappointed with our stay at the James, solely down to the awful customer service and the bill dispute.

The rooms are very clean with new furniture with two flat screen TVs. The room is about 475 sq in size. The staff is very friendly. The bottom pool was clean and the pool bar is awesome. Definitely will come back.

My husband and I booked our trip with BookIt.com to the James. We were looking for a place that wasn't directly on Ocean Dr., but within walking distance if we wanted to enjoy some of the night. The James is Perfect, it's about a block from Ocean Dr. and a couple blocks away from Lincoln ave shopping. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the staff they took our luggage and guided us to guest services. We checked in, but the staff didn't explain any of the amenities to us, just how to get to our room. We ended up discovering them ourselves, but it would have been nice to have a quick highlight upon check in. The lobby was very boutique-like with very modern furniture, clean and sleek.

We stayed in 604, directly on the streetside....we were not happy, tONS of traffic noise, the room smelled like mildew and it was pretty cramped. The only perk was the balcony, but still open to all the hooplah on Collins Ave. There were no upgrades available for 3 days, finally we upgraded on day 3. We were promised an oceanfront room for add'l 100/day, but one would not be available until later. So we go on with our day, come back and call guest services, to our shock they gave away the room!! I was disgusted! They scrambled to find another room and a couple hours later were able to secure a room for us. Room 1445! Amazing corner room ocean front and center! So much better and so worth the upgrade. They did comp us one night for the inconvenience, we wished we could have gotten a free upgrade like others....We stopped off at the Flordida Cookery for Breakfast, food was good but the prices were very expensive the buffet was 28pp oh and they include 18% gratuity "for your convenience" which makes service lag a little bit bc they know they are getting tipped automatically. However, please know you can change the tip cost if you feel they didn't provide adequate service.

The Beach was amazing, they have staff to help you get seated on the beach chairs. They work really hard and are extremely pleasant despite being in the heat all day. Our server Sarah was very good and attentive and the Staff in the booth were nice and super helpful. Edward was always there to help us out if we needed anything on the beach.
Be sure to check ur bill before you check out we had some Charges on check-out, somehow there were some extra charges, that staff quickly removed with no problem.


All in all we had a wonderful stay at the James, and we will come back.
