We stayed in a two bedroomed suite which was very spacious and had spectacular views of the beach, The suite - although large and well appointed - left a few things to be desired, for example there was no door between the second bedroom and the lounge, which meant we could not use the lounge after the kids went to bed. The second bathroom had a shower room and not a bath, which meant we had to bathe the kids in the master bathroom. The kitchen though large had a dishwasher but not a washing machine.
Breakfast was good and abundant though the quality of the various foods was not the highest and more luxurious items such as smoked salmon were missing. The beach location and facilities are excellent, though the hotel swimming pool is rather small. In all we had a good time here but the hotel fell a little short of $800 per day expectations.

Hello,

Thank you for the compliments and constructive feedback on our beautiful 2-bedroom suites, as well as the kind words on the service you had received. I have passed them on to the team.

Let me clarify a few key points:

First, you are correct. Our 2 bedroom suites are “very spacious” at 1,100 sq. ft and offer “spectacular” (good word) ocean-front views of the Atlantic Ocean. Daily dry cleaning service is offered in place of a washer and dryer in the room.

Second, most of our 2-bedroom suites offer a door from the living room to the second bedroom. There are a few that do not, so it appears is the case with your experience.

Thank you for your response.

Kind regards,

John Laclé

My wife and I spent one night at the Hilton Bentley before our flight out to Barbados. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the area with the restaurants on Ocean Blvd. and is on the south side of the island. Overall I would give the hotel a 3 out of 5. Nothing was wrong, it was all just average or less than expectations- especially if you're paying $350/night.

The staff was efficient but not especially personable with the exception of the bartender from Israel. No one was rude, but no one was overly engaging or personable either. The concierge desk was not staffed for the majority of the time we were there.

The room was above average and met expectations. The bedding and furnishings were very nice and the bed was so comfortable. The bathroom was very nice and roomy with a large tub for soaking. The room was the best part of the hotel we used. We had a partial ocean view which was very partial.

I would say my biggest complaint was the noise. I know South Beach is a party place, but we could hear everything going on in the adjacent rooms and on the balconies of the adjacent rooms. It was just noticeable enough that it would wake me up every 10-15 minutes.

Access to the beach was another let down. The closest place (we found) to rinse off after coming from the beach is by the bar at the pool and it's just a shower. We walked in the sand and tracked it all the way from the beach to the bar. A hose at the least would have been nice closer to the entrance to the hotel from the beach.

The pool was small for the number of rooms at the hotel and unless I missed it the only access is through the lobby and out the front door or through the restaurant. This might have been user error, but another path didn't make itself obvious.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for the money. Other than the brand name of Hilton Bentley, I am not sure where all the money went. The rooms are great, but other than that I was not impressed. if we go back to South Beach, we will stay at the Doubletree on the north side. The pool is bigger, the staff is nicer, and the beach access is much better.

Thank you Sir,

I am sorry we did not meet your expectations. We certainly strive to go above and beyond at every opportunity. Needless to say, we fell short with your own personal experience.

I very much appreciate your constructive feedback, specifically with the noise issues you had encountered in your room and the accessibility of our beach shower. We are taking steps to remedy both.

Thank you for the compliments on our room product, arguably the best on South Beach.

I hope we can welcome you back.

We stayed at the Hilton Bentley recently and loved it. I was really anxiou before arrival after reading some mixed reviews about this hotel. However, upon arrival, those concerns were long forgotten. The bellman immediately took care of us when we pulled up to the hotel. We got an amazing room on the top floor. The front desk was very friendly and professional. The lobby is small and has a boutique hotel feel. The bed in our room was super comfy. As others have said, the location really is great. It's south of fifth street, i.e. close to the action and yet far away for some tranquility at night. There was no noise from the Nikki Beach Club next door when we stayed. However, you should check out when their parties are, if this is a concern.
The hotel is within walking distance to Joe's Stone crab, and we went at 5pm, there were many diners being waived in, but no wait at all. We had the basic continental buffet at the hotel in the morning, which is included for gold/diamond members.
I was debating for a long time to stay here vs. Conrad in downtown. I am very glad we chose this location. When in Miami, might as well enjoy the beach!

Ah, there are many reviews about this hotel, many positive, some very negative. As a regular Hilton guest, maybe I can bring some clarity here.

This is a nice hotel at 1st Street on one of the best beaches in the USA. You're staying in SoBe (South Beach) South of Fifth Street. (SoFi) This is the alleged quiet South end of Miami Beach where you can enjoy relative peace and quiet (save for Nikki Beach next door which makes a lot of noise on weekend nights and Sunday all day.) The hotel is on Ocean Drive; the Art Deco hotels are just to your North above 5th Street.

The walls were a little thin, but a turn of the HVAC fan to the "on" setting made that all to go away and circulates air in your light and bright room that had much glass letting a lot of light in. The room was very nice and airy, although you are likely to face the side, rear, or the front building unless you paid for one of the few oceanfront rooms. If you don't like that arrangement, pick a hotel with only oceanfront rooms. Maybe the Marriott?

The staff was very gracious, friendly, and accommodating to our needs during the stay. This is not a big property. Stay here a week and you'll meet most of the friendly staff.

We liked the comfy pool area with lots of loungers and beach beds. At the ocean: full service chairs, chair pads, covers, umbrellas, and towels. Be careful, there is a "resort fee" of $17+ (at he front desk) or $30+ (at the beach stand) a day for the beach amenities. But you don't need to "buy" it for every day of your stay.

Parking is expensive at $35 a day plus tax, but it's not cheap anywhere on SoBe. You might do better to use an airport shuttle, your feet, and taxis, unless you have lots of out of city plans during your stay.

There were several issues during our stay that I would classify as "annoyances" rather than serious issues. You might think different if you were paying $350+ a night. The electronic key to our room died numerous times during our stay. Our room's telephone had issues that were not resolved until half way through our stay despite daily requests. Towels in the room were not replenished consistently. During our stay there was constant moving around of furniture from the pool and restaurant common areas as the property hosted several business and social events and closed off areas to general guest use. If I had come to stay for only the weekend, I would expect to be able to use the hotel's only pool and not be locked out of it by some group's use. So beware!

We had a excellent dinner at Gaia, the hotel's pool front restaurant. I'd recommend it. The quality of the daily breakfast in the Gaia room or outside at the pool was below standards for the caliber of this Hilton property. There's also Prime Italian at the front of the Hotel and Prime Steak across the street. We didn'try them. There's lots of eating chooses in SoBe, as long as you like Italian Food.

What you're buying here is one of the best locations on SoBe peace and quiet and beautiful warm Aqua blue ocean water. So I'd recommend it if you can put up with the minor annoyances we encountered.

Thank you kindly for sharing your most recent experience. We very much appreciate your sincere feedback.

Thank you very much for your recommendation of the Hilton Bentley. We are pleased you recognize our beachfront location on 1st and Ocean Drive in South Beach to be "one of the best" (in a more sophisticated part of Ocean Drive and walking distance to the best South Beach restaurants including Joe's Stone Crabs, Smith & Wollensky, Prime 112 and Prime Italian).

Let me clarify our "Bentley Package." The Hilton Bentley offers all guests an optional Bentley Resort Package of $17/day which includes use of our Bentley Beach Club services (towels, unbrella, chairs), high-speed internet service, and bicycles which can be used to cruise around Ocean Drive (based on availability).

We appreciate the comments made on the service issues experienced (e.g. inconsistent towel service in the rooms and keys not working, breakfast). The Leadership Team is proactively looking into the circumstances of your visit to correct for future stays.

We certainly look forward to your next visit to South Beach.

Best Regards,

John Laclé,

My wife and I have been looking for a hotel to stay in the South Beach area over a long weekend. We wanted to be on the beach, walking distance form the restaurants and bars that South Beach is known for but still way from the crowds. We thought about the Hilton Bentley and the next door Marriott South Beach. They are both in the SoFi area (South of Fifth Street on Ocean Drive). We went with Hilton even though rooms, location, amenities were identical but Hilton was about fifth dollars cheaper per night.

Rooms are spacious with floor to ceiling windows, king size beds, nice bathrooms, small kitchenette area with sink, dish washer, microwave, plates, cutlery, etc. So you can prepare your own meals if staying longer than few days. Also each room has a large balcony which depending on the location of the room they face the beach or the city. We chose a corner room with partial ocean view which offered a nice view. Only thing is Hilton has two building which are separated by the fourth floor Spa / Gym terrace so the distance between the two buildings are not that far. You will need to pull the curtains shot if you want your privacy from other guests staying at the next building. Ocean view and City view rooms don't have this issue.

There is a great pool and beach chair in the front of the hotel near the beach. This pool area is separated from the beach area by a gate / card access. Hotels in this area don't have private beaches but they still offer umbrella / chair service and a Beach Butler to bring you drinks and food from the Hilton's Pool Bar. Beach area front of the hotel does get crowded so you should stay in the umbrella / chair area. Hotel offers package deal for $17/day which includes umbrella/chair for the beach, bike rentals, Wi-Fi internet and DVD rentals from the front desk. Rooms come with flat screen TVs, DVD players and surround sound systems.

We didn't eat at the Hotel's Gaia Italian restaurant but it looked good. They also serve lunch and breakfast at the same place. Besides that they offer a pool/beach menu with frozen drinks and great food selection. We did enjoy few Miami Vice and Pina Coladas over two paninis.

Our only concern was that on Saturdays and Sundays next door Nikki Beach Club has parties and the music is loud enough so that you can't even hear the relaxing music coming from the Hilton's pool area sound system. I can't believe they are allowed to play that music so loud which could also become an issue at nights because the party goes until 5AM.

Also doors of the rooms are not insulated for sounds so any loud conversation in the hallways or someone slamming their room door can wake you up from your sleep in the middle of the night. I highly recommend hotel taking steps to insulate the doors for sounds, adjust the door-closers to avoid slamming and limit the noise level from the Nikki Beach Club.

This is the second time in two years I have stayed at the Bentley. It is at the far south end of SoBe on Ocean Drive. It doesn't take any time at all should you desire to walk up Ocean to the heart of the restaurant/club scene. I find the rooms awesome and worth the price. There is a full kitchen, lovely bathrooms and a great big balcony. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.
