La Piaggia is a very nice place to have a nice lunch by the pool the food is good and well prepared, the service is good and not pretentious as seems to be the standard in SoBe lately to explain server work on their service and are courteous and want to earn their tip but providing good service not like other places on the beach. The food is fresh and well prepared I been at La Piaggia several times and the food has been consistent. We had the burger sliders and the lentil salad, we usually bring our own wine no problem. The sliders were grilled medium rare as I requested and the salad was fresh and savory, it is a bit overpriced $28.00 for sliders total $60.00 for the entire meal. But then again is SoBe and it is a a great location, it is my understanding they will be closing from July to September. I do recommend La piaggia for a lunch mind they are closed some days during the week Monday thru Wednesday, it is a good consistent restaurant gorgeous atmosphere, great fresh food, great service.

Two friends and I were here for a weekday lunch and it was a great treat. Other reviews, and my friends agreed, say that Sunday afternoons are a bit of a madhouse (in the good sense) but we almost had the place to ourselves on a gorgeous day. Our table was set out in the sand, bright orange umbrellas and napkins everywhere (tres St Tropez!) and the wait staff all spoke French to each other. Extensive menu, including a prix fixe 3-course lunch for $35. We all opted for their delicious, big salads: Thai Beef and the "Chin Chin" Chinese chicken salad, all priced at $19. The salads plus a good bottle of sauvignon blanc, followed my expressos and noisettes, made for a perferct SoFi ("South of Fifth" which is the name given to the southern point of Miami Beach below 5th Street) afternoon lunch respite and chance for relaxed conversation.

Alot of locals go here. It's kind of hidden away from the flashy places. Food was good. Menu was interesting. I would say this is more of an atmosphere place - to drink and relax and appetizers. Alot of Europeans go here and it is PET FRIENDLY - there is always a cute little dog within earshot!

This is the place if you want a lot of buzz and to see and be seen. Many ages and nationalities come to spend a long Sunday mixing and mingling with the polo players, the fashionistas as well as the old guard and touristas. A harassed host tries to find a table for you and the waitstaff literally run at times but you will still wait some time to make and order as well as receive an order. Any conversation is pretty difficult unless you are sitting close to the pool side. Food varies. My chicken salad was very disappointing, but the tuna salad was delicious. Desserts looked fabulous.

All still a very fun and lively destination.
