“Superlative Spa”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

Upon arrival we were told by the front desk staff "we're a spa first then a hotel." Keep this in mind and you will never be let down at this utterly enchanting hotel and spa facility. The food, the staff, and the spa are everything you could ever want. The rooms are relatively small but they are absolutely charming, well-designed and an absolute complement to the property. Trust me, stay at the Standard Miami and as much as you may want to sleep in, you will by up at 7AM practicing sunrise yoga...it's that type of place.

The service was impeccable from the moment you get out of your vehicle. The place is so clean and the private lush landscaping really is peaceful. Loved to watch all the big yachts going by constantly while at the enormous pool.

What can I say the Standard really gets it right when it comes to beautiful properties focused on pure relaxation. The grounds of the property were gorgeous and made me feel as if I were a million miles away from the everyday rush. The spa was one of the nicest I have been too with their own unique twist. The pool and view were amazing I could have stayed there forever, not to metion their waterfall and plunge pool. The rooms were beautiful and modern yet comfortable and relaxing. They definitely set a new standard for for what hotels should strive for. I cannot wait to go back!

After a long cold winter in NY, my best friend took me here to celebrate my birthday for a long weekend. It was the best getaway with a perfect mix of fun and relaxation and such a welcoming vibe. We loved how everything is low and wrapped around gardens and at the foot of the bay. So many little nooks to chill and enjoy the fun extras like wicker domed beds around a fire, the awesome waterfall hot tub, and the cute little lounge areas. He had to do a bit of work while we were there and there were plenty of spots inside or out to plop down and plug in. The bar and restaurant waterside are also chill but lovely and lively without pretention. The food is good, the drinks awesome and the service super friendly and accommodating. And the spa...ahhh. The spa was perfect, again super nice without being pretentious and everything really is designed to soothe soothe soothe. We both had fab massages, I had a facial and did the DIY mud treatment - we loved it all. The spa is co-ed and most people where swimsuits but you can go topless no one really cares - everyone is just soaking in the atmosphere and superb facilities - there is a lovely hush in the Hammam. I also went for a paddle around the waterways across the bay which was fun and just enough of a workout. We kept saying we'd get up for sunrise yoga but didn't make it - they do have a great offering of classes and a gym as well. As with anything, what makes the Standard shine is the service, the staff work hard you can tell but are so friendly and down to earth- they rocked. Do ask Crispy the rock star concierge for advice she is super helpful. The rooms are small but cute and totally functional, great shower and good bed we didn't even use the AC with the fan. We originally got one with a bath but we didn't like the location tucked around the back of the building so we switched to a regular garden room and loved it. We still had a little curtained in patio and when we stepped out we were facing the pretty gardens. Venturing to the beach is a simple and fun bike ride but when you get back here you are in this great little Oasis of happiness. It surely made my birthday a happy one.

We stayed in the Stnadard for three nights on a month long holiday. Previously we stayed in South Beach on the beach which is great... However being on Belle Isle was also fabulous and a nice escape from the noise of Sobe.

The pool here is amazing - people actually pay to use the pool as a day time activity if they are not staying in the hotel. The food is also great at the resturant by the pool.

The Stabdard also has a Haman and spa that all guests can use complimentary during your stay - we loved this aspect as its such a relaxing experience after a day of shopping or lounging in the sun. There are also complimentary bikes for hire which we used and rode down to the beach.

Loved our stay here - if you are ok to be out of Sobe, an honestly you are still on a 15 min walk away, then this is for you. The rooms are very basic as per the Standard philosophy however the bathrooms are large and the showers are very large!

It's great value and we had a lot of fun here.

Every standard hotel we have visited has a unique and very deliberate style and personality. This one in Miami is our happy place - we make sure to visit a few times a year for an adult weekend of rest and relaxation. This hotel is about style, relaxation and indulgence (think spa, pampering, pool, food, gardens) - not opulence or pomp and circumstance. We love it.

Our first impression of the standard was really really bad!
We arrived at night from the sunny keys and it was rainning a lot, the hotel is made like a motel so you have to go outside to get to your room. Our first room was next to a generator which was very noisy so we asked if we could change and it was possible.
The rooms are really not cosy, not very clean and very minimalist... For the price, it s the worst room I ever had in an hotel... You have a little terrace but no view, no light... Also you can hear every step of the 1st floor rooms... After 5 days at the hotel we understood that still we were in the best part of the hotel: rooms on the left side while facing the sea.
2nd bad point: the location... we realised that most of the time we were hanging around collins avenue for the beach and restaurants and it s eather 25mn walking or 10 dollars taxi to get there and come back... At the end we were happy to have a walk but if you re here for a short stay, it might not be worth it to be this far from Collins.

About the good points now:
I had read before going there that the service was horrible and we had the opposite experience. Everyone from reception staff, to waiters at restaurant or swimming pool was very nice and caring and they always tried to do there best when we complained.
I took yoga lessons every morning and it was really good. The course take place near the swimming pool facing the sea, it s really nice.
The swimming pool, vintage style, is really nice (amaizing view) and large enough to choose to be on the side or near the pool.
Restaurant is really good too, cocktails amazing, really good and healthy breakfast.
I ve just vesited the spa and it looks nice, very original comparing to classic spas.

We werent happy at the beginning of our stay but at the end we were sad to leave for all the good points i have mentionned previously!

Room Tip: Ask for a room the nearest from the beach and on the left side, i thing our room was 116 and it was...
