The facilities of this hotel are very average : the usual Miami "cheap minimal chic" decor , and terrible service don't balance the overpriced room rates. But this place has a unique and peaceful energy that is priceless in the loud crowded Miami. The pool and the restaurant overlooking the bay are a must for Sunday brunch , with the most attractive good looking people in all Florida.

The Standard Hotel and Spa are both a fantastic hotel and a genuinely comfortable Spa. I travel to Miami often and I always stay there. Although the rooms are modest in size they are perfectly organized. The Pool is without equal - the staff is always friendly and the service is great - the atmosphere allows you to frolic or loose yourself peacefully in a book. If you like Yoga - the instructors are top notch. Of all the hotels I have ever stayed at that claim to provide "a lifestyle", the Standard in Miami is the only one that successfully does so.

Room tip: The deluxe rooms on the ground floor with outdoor bathtubs are the way to go.

The only bad thing about my stay at the Standard was that it was too short! In Miami for a quick business trip, I was unable to take in all the hotel's fantastic amenities such as the spa, mud baths, sun deck, etc. I did however enjoy the saltwater infinity pool... so grand! The rooms were modern minimal, with a clean fresh feeling. I felt like I was in a spa even though I wasn't. The bed was heavenly, so comforting for a day-long traveler. At night, the deck area is transformed into a contemporary outdoor meeting place, complete with little white lights, great music and spacious seating areas. With the warm ocean breeze, it was perfect to chill back with a great glass of wine. I would definately recommend the Standard to anyone going to Miami.

Room tip: Get a room on the ground floor, as it comes with a bathtub outside on your deck and white curtain dividers between rooms. A small touch that ads to the 'spa' feeling.

If you're looking for a swank and spacious hotel room and over-the-top service, look elsewhere. If you're looking for place to take the whole family with screaming toddler in hand, please go somewhere else. If you're looking for a great property with a super chill vibe and the best sunsets in Miami Beach, look no further.

Here are the reasons we constantly come back: The hamam (if you don't know what that is, look it up), sunrise yoga, infinity pool overlooking the bay, awesome sunsets, organic food, the super relaxing courtyard with nightly bonfire, and at night the pool is heated.
The service isn't fantastic, but I think that's part of the laid-back Miami Beach scene. Don't get offended if they don't wait on you hand and foot. The staff is friendly, but don't expect them to fawn over you.

The hotel rooms are small, but who wants to stay indoors all day?
