Clean and safe hotel with friendly staff right on the beach. 5 minutes walk to Ocean Drive and shopping on Lincoln Road just round the corner.
Wouldn´t hesitate staying here next time I´m in Miami.

I got back from this place in early August- and daaaaaym, its good.
Yes, the food is massivly overpriced ($42 dollars for three cokes and a plate of nachos) but it is definately worth it... and come on, everyone visiting it is $$RICH$$, so there was no lower class people. I visited with my family, and had a ball. I would say, though, the staff are a bit overfriendly. On visiting the pool i was asked to get my room key out, which I happily showed to be told 'Oh, you have beautiful eyes gorgeous' Lovely compliment, but not when im in a bikini and i just want to get in the pool! (Im 14) This was just one of the chat up lines - another security guard whispered to me 'Wanna come for a swim?' and then pretended to push me in, so overprotective parents, WATCH YOUR KIDS (:
Overall this hotel is the best ive everr been to, i full on love it!!!! Would go every year if it wasnt 11 hours away (on the PLANE) from my home :(

Oh and my daddy said i should say something about the overpriced parking? : /

My wife and I did a getaway weekend in Miami beach, and selected Loews based on the glowing reviews on Trip Adviser. We were terribly disappointed.

Overall, the hotel is nice. The rooms are clean and new, but generic. The views from the decks are great, as is having a deck. However, where they really fell short was service and delivering an enjoyable experience. It really came down to a few key areas of frustration:

1. CONSTANTLY trying to squeeze more money out of the guest:

It started at check-in, when they offered us a $30 upgrade - I had received an offer via email for a $20 upgrade, and was actually planning to take them up on it, but when I mentioned it to the guy at the desk he acted like I was lying, and refused to honor the $20 offer.

They tack on charges for EVERYTHING. A lot of places in Miami have an automatic 18% gratuity added to checks, which is acceptable for restaurants and room services, but Loews does it for a cup of coffee, or a snack... which is just ridiculous. It was not the dollar value that bothered us, but the mentality.

At the pool, they charge $20 to rent a crappy foam raft, which could probably be purchased for $10.

I took a few items out of the mini bar so I could put in a Gatorade to drink after a morning run, and they left a note saying I would be charged a $30 restocking fee, even if I didn't consume anything. This is not how you make guests happy.

2. Servicing rooms/guests:

We were there for four nights, and a full 50% of our days there the maids did not properly clean our room. One day they just neglected to replace the glasses and clean the ice bucket. Another day we turned on the "make up room" light at 10 am and when we returned at 4:30pm our room had not been cleaned. I called the desk and they said the maid had until 5pm, but obviously we didn't want them to come clean while we were there, so we just asked they send up new towels... which did not arrive until 5:45.

We called for a 12pm checkout out last day there, and at 11:50 someone knocked on our door to ask when we were leaving.

3. Basic functionality:

The in-room movie rental did not work in our room... we called the front desk, and all they could say was "sorry".

When I go back, I'm going to choose a smaller hotel with a little more character, and better service. This is supposed to be a luxury hotel, but luxury is not being gouged constantly, and getting excuses in place of service. Considering what they charge for the rooms, this hotel is completely not worth it.

Our impression of this hotel was hugely influenced by the fact we were upgraded to a fantastic ocean view suite. The balcony was enormous with an amazing view of the city too and on the top floor. The children slept in the sitting room which was separated by a door and we had the bedroom with a huge bed (by English standards). We had originally booked a St Moritz suite without balcony which is in a separate tower next door and not sure we would have been quite so wowed! Service was great everywhere in the hotel. We had buffet breakfast each day which was very good but a trifle expensive at $28 each ($10 for kids). Pool area was good and well staffed. I imagine it gets very busy in peak times. Location fantastic - right by beach and easy walking to all the cool places. Loved it and will definitely go back but nothing will live up to the feeling of sitting on that huge balacony at night and seeing the ocean and the lights of Miami. Wish I was there now!

We have stayed on South Beach numerous times, but this was our first time at this hotel. We stayed here instead of our usual favorite (Ritz Carlton) because we were traveling with colleagues for a convention. Upon arrival Sunday evening at 9pm, we were told that the "system was down" so our room wouldn't be ready for a few minutes. We were invited to tour the property while we waited. One hour and forty-five minutes later, we were told our room was ready. When we got to the room, it was a city view with 2 doubles. We had booked an ocean view with a king. When we called downstairs, we were told the hotel was full. The entire evening was awful and the service dreadful.

Other negatives: the meeting rooms are dreadfully cold and the cell phone coverage is poor.
Also, if a bunch of 40-50 something business travelers singing karaoke in the lobby bar at ridiculous volume is your idea of a fun South Beach experience, then this is the place for you.

Positives: Location. Location. Location. You can walk anywhere from here. Also, the pool attendants are incredibly good. The front desk staff could take a lesson from them. The fitness center is also very nice.

My husband and I came here on vacation celebrating our anniversary. We arrived early but were accomodated with early check in and an upgrade in room. The room's balcony had a lovely view of the beach and the room was very clean. We were also comped a wine a cheese platter, when we told them we were celebrating our anniversary. We will be going again. Lovely hotel and staff.

I had booked a total of 4 rooms for my family and we stayed for 2 nights midweek One of the rooms was in the second building which has not yet been refurbished TIP 1, ensure your room is in main tower. they decided to upgrade anyway to a full ocean view and transferred to our building this was $60 per night and it was a good view,TIP 2 hold out I was upgraded to partial view fro free. This is a fine hotel and we found very few faults if any to be honest it is expensive but this is what you would expect service was excellent especially around the pool where drinks and food served all day Pool is open 24/7 and the jacuzzi is hot I mean really hot so be careful, rooms where excellent we had a wet room and shower worked well, well appointed and clean. One of my sons and his partner had a meal in the Sushi bar and said it was excellent and as it went on my tab fromt the price of it it should have been. The bar service inside was also excellent and the staff could not do enough for you.
Location wise it was ideal for ourselves as we had a young baby and so did not want to be in the lively "ocean drive" melee it was a 2 minute walk from the art deco district but that distance kept away the noise, it was an easy walk to washington and the pedestrianised areas a word of warining just be alert there where some questionable characters around especially on Washington by "MIAMI INK" I would recommend this hotel and when myself and the wife returnI will make this my first option.
