When we first got to our hotel in the middle of the art deco area (1 block off of Ocean drive) we were a bit disappointed. Lots of construction and run down buildings. Ocean drive does not disappoint however. Very cool buildings, fun restaurants/bars, and people watching. Hoping they can continue to revitalize that area a few blocks further in.

It is an interesting walk to see the art deco buildings. Just have in mind that depending on the days you may find it too crowded as for instance, from Friday to Sunday. There are several restaurants and bars along the street. If you appreciate more a more calm ambient, go after 10th Street, otherwise you will get louder music and more peaple around.

The area is, from a historic and architecture point of view this is very interesting. But at night when the music starts and the streets get busy, it is a bit of a tourist nightmare. So see it for its qualities and escape the noise and over-eager waiters to leave a great memory of this very special part of Miami
