Owner description: An area of Miami Beach noted for its concentration of over 800 Art Deco buildings all within one square mile. Consider joining the walking tour which takes you past the white- and pastel-colored stucco buildings beautifully restored to their former splendor thanks to the Miami Design Preservation League.

the architecture and colors of the buildings is beautiful.
The setting is charming...there are rows of restaurants on
one side of the street and a beautiful park and ocean onthe
other side.
However it does get very crowded on the hotel/restaurant
side and it's difficult to walk through the crowd

visiting south beach is like a living museum of days gone past. If nothing else it is worth the drive out from Miami and just drive around for 30 minutes. Lots of outdoor dining opportunities along the strip overlooking the beach

All the buildings that were Art Deco were in very good condition, they looked not old at all but Wow! were they really something to see. You dont see buildings like that almost anywhere in the country. It was a pleasure to see them, walk along them and inside them. Also the are located on the beach front faceing the beach and ocean. And they go for blocks deep into the city. Anyone who loves that style should go and see and even if you are not familiar with it you would really enjoy it im sure. I would like to see it again someday.

Lots of fun to walk around and check out the original hotel architecture, and of course to do some people-watching.

Great it you like art deco, every style there is in one place. Just don't expect any of it to be in the best condition... the area has history and charater by the bucket load.
