We stayed in Miami Beach about 2 blocks from the So Bee Food Mart and, at first, didn't pay much attention to it. Washington Ave has small "supermercados" on every block (between 10th & 18th at least), all with hot food in the front window.

After a couple of days walking by here, we *ahem* stumbled upon the So Bee Food Mart. The produce & "wet" goods selection was minimal, but the hot food was delicious! Their specialty is fresh, hand breaded, made-on-site fried chicken.

The service is walk up, but there is seating for about 12 near the rear of the shop. There is one variety of chicken, so price differentiation is based on quantity. That first visit, we had 2 pieces each and were very pleased.

As a couple that is concerned about salt/fat ("...it's in the genes, so don't live like I did." - Dad), we felt a little indulgent. The next day was different. It was all we could talk about! We had to keep reminding ourselves of our low fat / low salt food stock in our apartment (tough to find at Publix, by the way). It worked for a day. We soon found ourselves back at So Bee not even 48 hours after our first visit!

Our "fears" were confirmed on the Fourth visit. We arrived late at night when the doors were chained shut for routine cleaning (it's 24h), and there was a line-up at the door. They couldn't have been closed for 10 minutes at this point (based on were the mop bucket was), but there were, uhhh, "chicks with big bootys" grabbing at the doors and yelling to the janitor that they wanted their chicken!

Long story short, best place to visit on you last or second last night in Miami Beach. Unless you want to gain a few pounds.
