We went to Ferli's because it was convenient to our hotel and we had a groupon discount card - and we love ice cream. Our first try was Thursday afternoon. The handmade sign in the window said, "closed Thursday for remodelling - sorry for the inconvience," although there was no sign of any work being conducted. We returned on Saturday, the place was open but the surly server gave the impression that he was annoyed by the imposition of customers wanting a cup of gelato.
We would not have returned at all except we had credit remaining on our groupon. We tried on Sunday and the handmade sign in the window said,"back in 2 minutes." We waited more than 15 minutes and watched other potential customers try the locked door and walk away. Eventually someone showed up and opened the door. The server was unapologetic and sullen.
The shop itself is fine and in a great location. It would do well to keep regular business hours. The gelato is OK, too but not nearly as good as 4D.
