I spent a great deal of time choosing where to stay in South Beach. I was very pleased with my choice. It was fun to stay in an historic hotel that was in good condition. Our room was super quiet (#33 I think, but not sure) with a tiny view of the ocean. The pool is small but nice. Food at the restaurant was delicious although the service was slow. The courtyard for dining al fresco was really lovely- like a little hidden garden. It is a half block from the craziness- quiet yet convenient. I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: The icemaker in the hall was loud. Be sure you are not near that.

Excellent location right in the midst of South Beach, affiliated with the News Cafe. The room we had, well actually we upgraded to a suite (for a very reasonable amount considering it is peak season), was blissfully quiet!
The art deco theme was perfectly maintained throughout the entire hotel, down to the light fixtures, original stone floors from the late 30's in the lobby and elevator.
The room was equally spectacular, as well as clean and comfortable, with robes and ample towels. The staff were extremely courteous, friendly and helpful, as well as knowledgeable about the area.
The rooftop pool and bar area were charming.
The only drawback which was inconvenient was the weak wi fi.
Highly recommend this lovely hotel and fab staff!

Room Tip: The staff were happy to show us all the available rooms so we could choose!

After reading so many TripAdvisor reviews of many many hotels in SOBE, this was the perfect choice. We absolutely loved the hotel, the staff, the location and the room. The complimentary beach chairs saved us $40 a day & $160 over the length of our trip--consider that if you are looking at less expensive properties that do not give you chairs. They were awesome extra touch. Each day we went to the beach and then spent the late afternoon at the amazing pool on the roof with a fabulous ocean view. You really do not feel like you are missing out on the beautiful ocean when you are at the pool because you can see it all. Get a frozen mojito at the pool bar--they are the best. We will definitely be back.

We (mother and teenager) spent 8 nights at The Hotel. The location is excellent, the rooftop pool and bar wonderful, although the view is mostly on airconditioning systems of the two neighbouring roofs. We had 2 rooms, one on the first floor right next to the garbage containers outside and some maintenance unit, the other on the second floor, again without view and very noisy as the doors slam into the locks. The rooms were stylish and tastefully decorated, not big but clean. Fresh towels twice a day. The lobby, the two bars and the patio are inviting and have class. The towels and chairs at the beach are great, unfortunately an umbrella costs 15 $. We just loved having Yoga on the roof on Saturdays. But the best thing about the hotel are the staff, above all John Durham, the concierge, a source of friendliness and wisdom who went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and interesting, and wonderful David, the bellman. They made us feel at home at The Hotel.
We will definitely come back, this time making sure that our room is quieter and has SOME view.

My husband and I spent our first trip to Miami at The Hotel for 6 nights. We were not disappointed! Like all the other positive reviews posted, the hotel is packed with the great combination of location, staff and style. When we first arrived, we checked into room 219. We had a bad feeling about the room as it is very close to the elevator. Our fear was proven right as there were lots of noise from banging of doors and guests checking out with their luggages in the morning. After suffering the noise for 2 mornings, we went to the front desk to request to change rooms. The manager (I think her name was Audrey.. Very sorry that I misplaced your name card in Bahamas) was so sweet, upgraded us to room 333 on Ocean Ave. It was a big, new and beautiful room. We totally loved it!

And yes, the most convenient thing was having the News Cafe (they do serve good food there) downstairs where you can grab a bite or drink anytime! In addition, there are many restaurants nearby and shopping is just across the street. Also, it is located very near the Visitors Centre where you can book your trips (at a better rate than booking with the hotels). There is a large Walmart about 4 blocks down so you can stocked up on water or any other necessities. Of course, the big plus is the free beach chairs that came with the room. However, you have to be careful while snacking on the beach because the seagulls would come after your food!

We are very happy to make the right decision to stay with The Hotel. The great experience began at the reservation. A Big Thank you to Ms Janessa Daiz who was ever so patient with my reservation! They really make it their business to ensure you are having a fun holiday!

Just stay with The Hotel once and you will understand why you want to go back again and again...

Room Tip: The rooms at The Hotel @ 800 are quieter, bigger and much more comfortable.

My husband and i stayed here for fiur nights, the location is exceptionsl! Smack in the middle of south beach. We had a room over the 24 hour News Cafe!! It could be noisy and i would have appreciated being told that when we booked the ocean view room, however being a light sleeper i wore earplugs and i dont think it kept me awake any more than usual. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and well decorated. Bathroom again very spacious. Plenty of clean towels replaced twice daily!!! Complimentsry dun loungers and towels on the beach. Overall a grest little hotel in a perfect location for exploring SOBE

Stayed at "The Hotel" for 3 days over the Christmas period. When we arrived we parked right outside and the bell boy was quick to help unload our bags and take them to our room, we were then greeted by a friendly receptionist and given a upgrade to our room, a very nice Christmas present!

The upgrade room was in the other building above the News Cafe (some people might not like entering the hotel via a restaurant , but this did not bother us, and while in the room did not hear anything from the restaurant or smell any food cooking (we have breakfast there one morning which was excellent). The upgrade room (ATELIER room ) was fantastic and very clean, the bathroom was one of the biggest and best I have seen (especially in Miami Beach) and was extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. If I had one complaint was the fact there was not a fridge available (only a minibar) and we had no place to keep our water cold.

The location was fantastic right on Ocean Drive and an easy walk to Lincoln Road for the shopping. There are numerous places to eat and drink around the hotel just watch for the prices and the added tip!

One of the reasons we chose this hotel was it had access to the beach with beach chairs available which were amazing, The attendant on the beach set up the chairs and made sure we were OK, and the beach chairs were more comfortable than some hotel beds I have slept in!!

As we were in the other block we did not really see many of the Hotel staff except security when entering the building but everyone we met were friendly and were prepared to help with any questions we had (including how to find a "Dive" bar on Washington Avenue).

I found "The Hotel" very clean the bed very comfortable (and not forgetting the wonderful bathroom), in an excellent location (including access to the beach) with wonderful professional friendly staff.

When I visit Miami Beach again "The Hotel" will be my first choice hotel.
