“Charming South Beach Boutique Hotel”

The Hotel is located just one block off of Ocean Blvd. so you are in the thick of the action but still have some quiet. The rooms are a bit small but perfectly adequate. The decor is art deco but not over the top. The rooftop pool and bar provided a beautiful view of the ocean but was a quiet peacful spot. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful - providing great tips on dining and shopping. This hotel also had great rates compared to some others in the neighborhood.

OK, the very first thing to understand about South Beach...it's not a place you come to sleep. That being said, we had one of the new rooms, right above News Cafe, facing the beach/ocean...with a balcony. Awesome place to be and be seen. People watching is amazing from this balcony! But when we shut the balcony doors, it shut-out the noise! Probably because they are hurricane rated glass. We had absolutely no trouble sleeping. Keep in mind that Ocean Drive is quite lively well into the night on weekends, but much quieter on weeknights.

The rooftop pool and pool deck is PERFECT...comfy loungers ...great bar and staff ...wonderful sandwiches--big enough to share. (Where you really planning on swimming laps in that pool, while on vacation?) My wife even felt comfy enough to go topless while sunning....gotta love vacations!

The hotel common areas and room were very clean. Our balcony glass doors were a bit dirty on arrival, but we simply asked that they be cleaned and it was done immediately...and with a smile. The staff was always friendly and attentive. For instance, we arrived before our room was ready, but no big deal...they just sent us up to the pool bar with some free drink coupons. What a great way to start our vacation...something we might have done anyway!

The Hotel's location is perfect...very close to great shopping and fabulous restaurants. Don't miss Quinn's (hit it twice) or a Fish Called Avalon. And, its just far enough down the beach that you don't have to look at those big white event tents!

I guess the best advice is... if you like brand new hotels with cookie-cutter rooms...stay someplace else and leave this one for my wife and I. But if you are looking for a true SoBe experience, then book this one...a real art-deco gem that's not showing her age at all.

I had read the earlier reviews and that's what enticed me. It lived up to the hype (I've been dissapointed by some of the trip advisor raves).

We stayed in the "new" building which is a remodeled older building with great big rooms decorated in sort of a 70's vibe. Only complaint about the room is that we both got injured from the wood corners at the foot of the bed, we should have been more cognacent of earlier reviews that mentioned this.

The News Cafe downstairs is a wonderful asset, we enjoyed it for breakfast, lunch and drinks from the bar's elevated balcony where one can take in the parade down Ocean Drive.

As crazy as Ocean Drive gets right outside our front door our room remained relatively calm and quiet save the occassional horns, alarms and urban uproars. Just walking accross the street to the beach is great with lounges included in the room tarrif.

The roof top pool area on the original building is great though it could use a freshning up as the deck paint is looking pretty worn. Also has a small gym with a great view, used this a couple of times.

We've stayed at the Angler, the Betsy and the National on other trips and although each had their attributes none was worthy of a return trip whereas the Hotel is. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Stay in the "new" building for big rooms and beach access. Stay in the old building if yo...

We stayed at The Hotel for one night on our way down to The Keys and we had a great time. The staff was wonderful and the hotel was in a great location. We could walk to the beach and plenty of resturants and entertainment. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The Art Deco look was spot on! We loved it and would go back in a second!! I would highly recomend this for adults. The pool area was nice but would not be good for children. I am a 30 something and was there with my husband and our friends. We had a great time!!

I love old hotel properties that have been thoughtfully renovated. I thought this hotel was one of those, but it definitely is not.

The renovation was on the cheap side, and not recent. Our room (318) faced on the parking garage next door, with its all night arc lights shining in our (dirty) window. There is very little soundproofing, so when a drunken couple next door started arguing loudly at 1:30 a.m., we heard every word, for more than 45 minutes. A call to the front desk to complain accomplished nothing.

The rug in the room was absolutely filthy, covered with big dark colored blotches of crud. It appeared not to have been cleaned within memory. The rooftop pool is nice, but if you want a Margarita there, be prepared to pay $17, not including the mandatory 18% service charge.

On the whole, an overpriced rip-off. There are plenty of other hotels in the area to choose from. I suggest you do that and avoid this hotel.
