Description: Bringing the best fried chicken and freshest farm ingredients from Florida and Georgia to the table since 2011, Yardbird has since garnered the praises of the James Beard Foundation as a semi-finalist for "Best New Restaurant South" and as one of Bon Appetit's "50 Best New Restaurants" in 2012. Yardbird sticks to the values of tradition, family, and community with a menu of "soul-nurturing" dishes intended for sharing. A warm, comforting environment lets guests feel relaxed and at home while dining at Yardbird. Southern touches add to the nostalgia, like antique candlestick holders, wildflowers on all the tables, and handmade light fixtures outfitted with Edison bulbs in Mason jars.

What a great place! Cool atmosphere, good music, great drinks, and delicious food. The service was a bit slow but we're New Yorkers and used to super-fast service.

The chicken biscuits are a must-try appetizer (put the pickles right on the sandwich) and the chicken under a brick was great - very flavorful and juicy without frying. The cauliflower mash was such a simple yet unexpected taste.

Yardbird is not directly on Lincoln Mall (only one block south) so be sure not to miss it!

We went for brunch on labor day weekend. Our first time to this restaurant. It is excellent and well worth a try. We tried the fried chicken and biscuits with spiced watermelon on the side which were excellent and a must try. The ambiance is vibrant and the wait staff is very attentive and helpful with the menu items and recommendations so that we could try as many dishes as possible. The drinks are well made and creative and we would recommend trying one. Loved the bloody mary. All in all very creative dishes with what is otherwise known as "comfort food". I couldn't help but laugh at the prices and to think that someone in the hills of Tennessee would probably say they could get the same friend chicken in their grandma's kitchen for A LOT less. True, but we are in South Beach and the pricing is fairly typical for a south beach restaurant. All in all a great experience and we will definitely go back for supper.

We stopped here for a late dinner during the week. We got a table right away. The server was courteous and asked if it was our first time dining there.and we said it was so our server was very informative about the restaurant, the chef, the food, the drinks etc. Very attentive staff all around. My husband had the chicken a biscuits which were listed in the appetizers section, but with 1/2 order of the mac and cheese- it was plenty, and plenty GOOD. OMG, so flavorful and buttery. The mac and cheese was awesome! I had the meatloaf, which was also an appetizer--made with short ribs-- great flavor but a bit on the dry side. We also ordered the 1/2 fried chicken. I think that is the most moist and flavorful fried chicken I have ever had. The atmosphere is nice, great beer and bourbon selections (I am not a bourbon drinker but they looked interesting). Apparently they change up the menu every 3 months (the chicken and biscuits are a staple so no worries) so we will be going back soon!!

Yardbird is a great experience, it's quite the happening place. I went on a Saturday night and it was jammed packed. Good thing we had a reservation. Even the bar was packed. It was also a rainy night and everyone was inside so maybe that had something to do with it feeling so busy. We had a few drinks at the bar. The Sweet Melissa is a great light refreshing drink and the Yardbird Old Timer was strong and potent just like they are supposed to be. When our table was ready they walked us to the table and we were a bit disappointed. We were sat right in the middle of the booth with other couples really close to us. It feels like your sitting on a cruise ship with other couples. Ask for a window table or a high top when making a reservation. The food was delicious. The chicken and biscuits were a great appetizer to start off with (although they resemble KFC smackers) the chicken was cook great and the biscuit had a kick to it because of the jalapeño. The main dishes are served family style, we ordered the special pan seared scallops over a pasta with mushrooms and as sides got cheesy grits and Mac and cheese. Don't know how they do it but the Mac and Cheese is amazing! For desert we split a pecan pie which was also delicious. Good thing the restaurant is a block away from Lincoln Road because your going to want to walk around after just to help settle all the food your going to eat. Highly recommend! But remember make reservations oh, and its not cheep. The meal was $130 for two with tip, one appetizer, one main dish, two side dishes, one pie and two specialty drinks.

After two weeks in Miami Beach, we were looking for something other than Hispanic or Italian fare. We found just what we wanted at Yardbird. Good Southern style cooking - although a bit more refined and upscale than your normal soul food restaurant.

The menu looks a little pricey until you realize that the entree portions are large enough to share. My wife and I had the fried chicken, which was moist, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The honey hot sauce on the side was also surprisingly good. The Mac and Cheese was incredible and the side of beans (green, lima, butter and several others) was good but not spectacular.

While we didn't taste them, the ribs and the carrot cake looked very good. We will definitely return when we are back in the area.
